I tried a new angle tonight, on the far side of the pond...field on the left was just harvested (soy beans) and right is winter rye. nothing. I’ve never seen it so quiet here, with all their movement at night...lots of tracks in the am. 72CA430A-8C4D-4501-901B-312D9046BE12.jpg 8914C9B0-D643-4221-86B8-AC9A447FBC69.jpg

I know out of a carbine a .357 (and a 7.62x39) are just a sneeze under a 30-30 and last I checked, I think someone once killed a deer with a 30-30. Like others said no your limits but I assume with a pistol, you will be planning shots under 100 yards or so anyway which should be fine. How bad is performance hurt in that round in a half pint barrel?

That deer is bigger than I thought from the first picture she sent me. Pretty big bodied deer as well. I’m so excited for her. Pretty sure this is the deer that was in front of her last week when her muzzle loader wouldn’t cock from my lack of cleaning.

Since my wife pinched this morning I talked to her and was gonna bring our son this afternoon. I’ve only set 3 times this year and have been wanting to go back even though I don’t have any buck tags.

Was hoping he could shoot his first one with me this afternoon but he didn’t do so good today and momma said no go. I said well just because he’s being punished doesn’t mean I should suffer so here I sit in the blind just me and Reese’s and jerky. Left my baby on the hill.

Wife ask what you gonna do if big boy steps out? I said shoot it......with the camera.

Look at how much the scenery has changed since the last time I set November 2nd. Pay no attention to the buck in the photo, he’s in the jerky bag I brought with me.

Is it considered a hunt if you didn’t bring a gun? I feel so naked without a weapon.

I’m taking vacation for Friday, calling for rain Friday and Saturday, so crap, I hate hunting in the rain. I’m also off all next week, so fingers crossed. My time this year for hunting has been really limited due to family health issues. I’ve had very little time to even get back over to my parents land to even clear the 4wheeler trail out. I’m really looking forward to getting in the woods for some relaxation from all this stress, I’ve been needing some alone time for a while! Well, maybe some alone time shared with something brown with horns on its head!

I hear ya...we've been fighting either bad weather or bad cough. I think Im finally on the upper hand of it. Been coughing for couple weeks. Kinda sucks when you are trying to hold back a cough and hunt at the same time, i did get my wife on a nice 160lb doe here though last week. The doe wasnt too full of fat but pretty old so she has a lot of meat! Good luck hope the weather turns for the better for you!
