Deer hunting BS thread

My wife gave me a new silicone wedding ring this morning for V.D. day.

 

Not the way we want to find sheds. found this one this morning

 

That sucks

 

Think it was disease or just a bad shot that wasn’t found?

 

Not sure. coyotes had cleaned it up pretty good. no busted ribs like a gun shot would do, was close to the road. may have been hit by a car.were going in the morning but not hitting it hard. taking my sons dog, we are trying to get her to find sheds

 

Went out to the mountain today with my oldest son. damn it was cold. found a few sheds and cocoa had a blast. she slept on me all the way home. I enjoy my time with him just messing around

 

As cold as it was here today I can only imagine what it was up there!

 

It was 15* when we left to go and in the 20’s there but about a 10 to 15 mile wind.last week was in the 60’s so its hard to adjust. is your avatar name for 6.5 creedmore?

 

Yes. Bought one a couple years ago (T.C. Venture) and it’s awesome.

 

Sort of relevant sort of not. But I like to brag every once in a while, my brother in law makes custom knives, hand forged etc. He even won Forged in Fire. But to the relevance he even does antler handled knives.

Nice. my son bought one, a wetherby. i mounted the scope and we lined it up. good shooter. i really like,its a sweet caliber. he got it for hunting down in the fields. shot a doe @325yd. with it this year.

 

Just had 3 bucks behind the house. All young deer. 2 were spikes or 3-4 pts and the other was a little basket rack 6-8 (dunno about brow tines) that I have a couple pics of. Season ended Monday but I did manage to get my daughter to have 3 bucks in a scope at least haha... Just out the bedroom window, out of season, and 500 yards away

 

Ive always read about Alabama having rut in Jan. in some areas. when do they start sheding down there?

 

It depends haha the Michigan deer here will probably start soon and the bama deer probably have a few weeks left


I probably wouldn't wanna drag one out by the antlers today at any rate just to be safe

That’s a nice gun! The farthest I’ve shot one with the venture is 165 yards.

 

I live in the western part of the state in the moutains, early 20th century deer were about wiped out in VA.the mountains got deer from Michigan and Wis.eastern part got deer from the dismal swamp in the tidewater area.racks are totally different,we get height and mass and the East are thinner with Big spreads..from the different genetics
