So about 5pm today, a deer crashes into my chain link fence in the back yard. Most of my yard is not fenced, just about a half acre right behind the house for the dogs. None of the neighbors yards are fenced either, so plenty of room for deer. What's odd is I currently have my daughters dogs, so I've got 6 dogs in that fenced yard. Not something a deer wants into. I have no idea what could have been chasing or scaring the deer into the fence as there was nothing around. It could have easily missed the fence by running 15 yards to the left.

It hit between two poles. Both concreted in and were leaning half way over. The top rail was 15 yards inside the fence and bowed heavily and you could see in the fence where it took most of the force. Looked like the deer never saw it and did not attempt to jump.

These pics are after I've straightened the fence and got the big dogs out of the yard. They immediately started eating the butt out of it.

Had 30 minutes to get ready for work, so I fixed the fence to hold the dogs in, put the deer in the back of the truck, and will haul off tomorrow morning when I get home.

Yeah. I didn't keep the meat mostly because it was over 90 degrees and I had to leave for work in 30 minutes, but I also wonder is something was wrong with it to run head first into the fence.
