I don't wanna say I missed another coyote while I was walking out, so I saved a rabbit that was very close to a coyote I scared away...

We have some of these in the shop.

They’ve lasted well and are decent for shop use but I would look at the larger models ($50-100) that put out 500+ lumens for an outdoor use.

The wife found these for $8 on clearance last year. They have a usb charger (just plug it into a phone brick) and they make for a decent flood light to walk in and out but I wouldnt wanna track any blood with it.

Petzl and Black Diamond make some really good head lamps. I've been using a Petzl about 5 years now and I've been happy with it. Light weight, great on batteries and plenty bright.

I have a Petzl that I like. Then a few years ago I went Javelina hunting in Arizona and forgot to pack it so I bought a 400 lumen Energizer:

I actually love this unit. I now have one in every vehicle and in my hunting, fishing, and bug out bag. They cost about 25 bucks have multiple settings and are easy on batteries. Admittedly not as light or nice as my Petzl but about 1/2 the price. Just my 2 cents though.

Since it's so nice outside I decided to go out and remove the enclosure around my treestand. Well one of our 6 month old kittens decided to follow me. I thought no problem. She'll get as far as the water and stop. Well I'm up in the stand removing stuff and I look and here comes the kitten climbing up the tree.
The kitten gets on the stand and I'm thinking, crap!
I called my wife and told her to come out just in case the kitten falls.
I get everything removed and tossed down and I'm thinking now what.
So I stuffed the kitten in my jacket and climb down.

I have a black diamond I usually use now. I think I found it last year I don’t remember. Biggest thing for me is a red light option on it for stealth. I have also previously used a cheapo clip on hat light that was red along with a white clip on light sometimes as well.

I almost always carry a handheld as well a convoy C8- they were like 12 bucks when I bought mine and I can see 300 plus yards with mine. Around 1k lumens and 1 rechargeable 18650 battery to power it.

I will use a white light until I am a few hundred yards from where I want to be then turn the light off or switch to red.

I like the red light option as well. That is what surprised me with the Energizer. It has both the red and green light options. I also carry a handheld as I’ve been out in the middle of deep dark woods and wanted just a quick look at something. Stay safe...Happy Thanksgiving

Yep I get a bit spooked sometimes when I am out there in the dark. I would much rather carry an extra 8oz flashlight that would allow me to see whatever I want than have my imagination run wild on walks in and out.

Me and my buddy got stopped last year by a warden on the national forest and he searched through all our stuff and was asking us some odd questions about where we were... and he eventually asked if we saw any signs of people growing weed back in the forest???

Apparently he said someone was growing a few acres of weed only like a mile from where we were, in an ~4 square mile area I have probably walked 100+ miles in back and forth scouting without knowing.

that would be fun to walk up on:rasta:

never could find out from him if there were people camped out there with it or not. That would be my main concern

I grew up in Humboldt County California walking into Hidden Pot Farms was a common but scary reality. I used to just hunt with a little 1 AA mag lite, until the one time the bulb blew out. As I stood there trying to replace that wretched little bulb in the dark, big things started moving all around me. I stopped everything and stood completely still. I figured i had to be standing in the middle of an elk herd moving through the woods. It was confirmed when I felt the rump of the bull brush against my pack and then bugled once he realized I was there. Shivers still go down my spine when I think of it...

Red light is nice for reading or moving around in the wall tent when there’s other guys relaxing. Easier on the eyes too.
