Great start to my afternoon. I decided to come out extra early to sit in my blind. Not 2 minutes later I got a doe strolling across. She stops 30 yards from me and takes a dirt nap. I had her skinned, quartered and on ice in about 45 minutes. I was back in my blind in just over an Hour from pulling the trigger.

I feel like with mule deer and elk people will say 4x4 or whatever but whitetail that will say 8pt. Black tail and coues deer seems to me like people may say either but mostly 8pt

Pulled cards yesterday and here’s the only pic I have of the deer Cole shot.

    7D619EDD-DDD0-452A-945C-EE957BA42763.jpg

Cole and I carried the head over to a guy whom I’ve used for taxidermy for 25 years, haven’t seen him in 10. I’d already told Cole he won’t see it for a year, maybe more.

We got to talking to John and Cole was asking a million questions about this and that and we got to the paperwork part.

Cole told him how he wanted him and John said you see all these racks off of heads that I have to mount for people? There was probably 50+, Cole said yes. John said kids go to the front and you’ll be next. Should have it back in February but I’m guessing March.

Guess I’m done . Rifle ended Sunday . Went out a couple times after with the Xbow in my blind but had to pull the blind because of the snow storm .( 18” ) Season still open until Tuesday for archery / muzzle loader . Not trudging uphill 500 yards through 18” of snow . Got one in the freezer anyway . Hopefully it warms up a little and the snow melts a bit and maybe the quad will get through so I can check cameras and maybe put something out for the deer to eat . No acorns this year here :(

While I'm on the topic of oddities in deer I might as well throw this up here too. Shot a doe last light on the last day of PA gun season and ill be damed if that girl didn't have a little piebald in her genes. Not sure what I'm going to do with legs but I definitely thought they were cool enough to hang onto.
