I never really could age rubs, I'd guess that one is 3-4 days old.

I passed up 25 like that in an oak flat I walked at 3pm… probably stupid but I just could not figure out where they would be bedded and found no tracks or fresh poo so I kept walking. I feel like I’m having a problem this year with looking for a perfect spot and never finding one when choosing a decent one and setting up will do better.

Got my tallest ladder stand all secured with new ratchet straps and put a life line on it ( I’m getting old) this stand has been on this tree for quite a few seasons.
My 20’ extension ladder wouldn’t reach the bottom strap . Used the trusty Tree Snake to get the straps around the huge trunk .

 

my son is going to put one up this afternoon. there is an area in town that was annexed from the county and bow only. some of the best damn hunting we have. damn if he didnt get permission to hunt on his real estate agents place. i drive that road in late summer looking at deer. he vidieoed 3bucks there last week when they showed him the property lines. i cant get vidieos to post for some reason,I think i taught him well. his buddy has permission on that road and usually gets a 130inch bought every year. yea,im jellous. lol

I would have to travel to Pennsylvania for a chance at something 130” or better . Around here a2.5 year old is a trophy .

 

not sure why this 5 square mile area produces so many studs. yea its bow only,good food,good cover and all private but every 5acre track has a bow hunter on it it seems.we will see how it works.and landowner said she would get him permission on the neighbor. I told him to tread lightly to not wear out his welcome. this one was last year not 400yds down the road. its @low 120’s.

 

our lease is mountain land.managed pretty serious. our goal is 130 but most killed are in the 120’s. its that last year thats hard to let em go for me. most of them are 3 1/2-4 1/2.all my younger days was better shoot cause you wont see him again. the youngins are better at it than me. son has said dad,i dont think thats big enough. i always say its a cull. lol

 

Many many meat hunters here . Certain WMUs have antler restrictions but not here we’re I hunt . The EHD has made to my county also . Finding dead deer near water .

Had a few days. Went to a friends dads place. Nasty country. Found a small 3x3 muley similar to the pictures I put up earlier. They have a nice river bottom with quite a few whitetail in there. First day there I blew 2 whitey bucks out of a big coulee about a mile and some 500 feet above the river. One looked decent from what I could tell and the other one smaller. Found them again at last light but they were hustling to get somewhere and there was no chance but to watch them. Found the 3x3 muley the next day. Buddy's dad told me about a spring on the property that I should sit. Found it and tons of big tracks all around it. They just got some rain last week so there's small pockets of water everywhere. Spring wasn't productive. Camp was right above the river bottom. I could pretty much wake up and glass the bottoms from my tent. Anyways I only had half a day to hunt so I figured lets stay close to camp. Find some deer. Find more deer. Find even more deer, just no bucks. Ended up finding a 3xknobbyforkythingy whitey in the bottoms. Buddys dad ends up driving the road in the bottoms and pushes the deer towards me. I hustle 300 yards, drop my pack, lose the pants lol, and the stalk is on. Got to 40 yards to where I last saw him (thought he went behind the hill and came out the other side with the does) but he ended up bedding down in the bush. Looking over it all I see is the outline of his rump, and by that time it was too late. He busted out of there. Whats the ratio? Something like every 1 in every 7 stalks is successful? I'm on number 4...

 

There has been some black bear sightings around our area, I’ve never seen one or gotten pictures…..until today. These just came through where Cole and I been hunting and headed in the morning. Bear season comes in November 13th, guess I’ll get a tag.

 

This will be me leaving the truck headed to the blind......Cole better put his running shoes on too
