Oh yeah I could get behind some brats and Italian sausage would be good too, but that casing keeping everything together is the huge thing with those that breakfast sausage can't compete with in deer meat vs pork. You just can't cram enough fat into it for it to be stable. I had to add a table spoon or so of bacon grease just to make the gravy this morning

That recipe makes around 10 or 11 pounds. I usually stuff 7 pounds or so into sheep casings and leave the rest loose in 1 pounds bags. It's definitely not pork sausage but we use it just the same . It's taken quite a few tries with different recipes but we really enjoy that one.

we make alot of deer bologna and snack sticks. we grind boston butt fir the pork. add like 4:1 deer to pork to get enough fat to hold everything together. the butt seams to be about right for fat content:thumbsup:

I’m looking for some advice. I need to remove a good bit of samplings/small trees. Winching them out was one thought. But I was thinking of cutting flush with the ground then adding herbicide to the stump in order to kill the roots ( thought this method would be quicker). Has anyone gone this route and if so what herbicide do I want to use? Is crossbow what I want?
    Thanks for the help

Crossbow will kill most stuff. You can either hack and squirt into the cut or cut and paint or spray the stump.

Crossbow should work, it's active (the name escapes me ATM) is focused toward wood stemmed plants. If you are on a budget, there is a product called Manor or MSM, which is a broadleaf herbicide but it also works pretty well for wood stemmed plants (actually it will kill oak trees if over applied) it's pretty darn cheap and will knock out a bunch of stuff out that 2 4d won't touch

I use tractor supply farm works glyphosate grass and weed killer. I buy a 2.5 gallon concentrate jug every 3 years or so and it's enough to make around 200 gallons of mix. When I clear brush I have a couple gallons in a sprayer and spot spray the stumps. Doesn't take much on the cambium, it'll track to the roots and it's dead dead dead. We have a lot of invasive privet in our area and this is how I get rid of it, for a few years at least.
