Rifle season kicks off here in Ga in a few weeks. Im just curious what is every one using for hearing protection? Currently using the muffs that I use at the shooting range. the big bulky ones. looking for something more sleek.

 

I suck at hunting so much, that when I see a deer and have an opportunity to shoot, the adrenaline muffles all the sound. I'm nearly convinced my heart beat is louder than the shot.

I grew up with a .243, and have never put it down for anything else. Always wanted to get a .308, but I have yet to have one take more than 2 steps with a .243 shot, so I'm gonna continue using it lol. Hoping to have my nephew use it this year for his first hunt/deer.

 

I always had a picture in my mind about 243 being a coyote round but its really a good all killing rifle round. Basically 308 necked down. My personal favorite is 270

 

Its most definitely not a brush gun, but in fairly open hardwoods, she's done the trick every time. Reminds me I need to go shoot it and make sure its still sighted in though. It went a full season without getting shot, and scopes get bumped pulling up and down a tree, so need to check it.

 

I shoot my .300 a few times a year to kill my deer and elk, I don't wear hearing protecting. Bird hunting is a different story and for that I use toilet paper.
