    I don’t think you bury the antlers, just the skull. The foil probably keeps the antlers from getting sun bleached and keeps the squirrels from chewing on them.

    Actually I had the antlers above ground, wrapped heavy with foil for rodents, then sunk a large flower pot enough to cover the antlers and shored it up with dirt. Looked like a dirt pile.
    Sat like that in the corner of my garden for a year and a half.
    If you ain't in a rush to get it done, the buggies will take care of it.
