Deer hunting BS thread

You have some decent weather up there? Its currently 101 here.

 

got 3 does and 5 skippers in the hay field. Buck Lure. lol. best pic i could get.

 

What did you plant them with?

 

Yeah, finally cooled off and lots of rain last week. We have more rain in the extended forecast so trying to get everything planted.

 

I used a mix of winter wheat, winter rye, oats, triticale, turnips, rape, and radishes.

 

Got the last one in today.

 

I planted some food plots for a couple years. I had the most luck with Buck Forage Oats. The deer walked trails through the other plots to get to the oats.

 

the field behind my son’s house is the killing field. 2 130’s and a 125” in 2 years. it was getting over taken with bradford pear trash. clearing it yesterday and leaving cover and shooting lanes. havnt got a totally finished pic.

 

I tried to get us some camp meat this morning with the Honda. One of the biggest bucks I’ve seen in a while was standing on the right side white line, as he headed toward the woods his running mate came from the left.

I drilled him and cut him a few flips and he was laying on the side of the road.





I went to cut his head off cause he was a large buck and he was gone.

All I have is this little bit of hair in the headlight.

I've gotta say, these work so much better and are a whole heck of a lot cheaper:

 

We are overrun with deer this year here on the eastern side of the Blue Ridge.
Got a herd of mommas keeping their spots tucked into our windbreak.

These young dudes were hanging out in the shade yesterday evening. 2 8's and a 6 pt. We don't get many big boys due to all the vehicle strikes.

 

sorry. done it myself. but a positive-your on the board. got a bud who counted them in his yearly kill. lol
