i usually butcher all my stuff and typically cut the backstraps and loins out, and leave the shoulders whole, and grind up the rest, but this year I may try making some of them cute T-bones and deer chops... very impressed with the pile of meat he winds up with at the end starting with like a 60 lb deer

I even take the scraps, cook them, run them thru the dehydrator for dog treats. Nothing gets wasted.

I need to nail down a processor ASAP near where I hunt!

I just don't have the skill, the tools, or the time (impatient and impulsive person) to butcher my own.
Yea, I know YouTube. And the knives, grinders aren't all that expensive too...

I hear ya. I can do it, I grew up processing my own. BUT, I'm an automotive engineer by trade and time=money. For the amount of time it would take me to process a good size doe, the processing would pay for itself and then some. Maybe I'm just slow, but for now...not worth the time.

Only takes me about 45 minutes to debone and have meat on ice. But I'm getting old so it's taking longer. I don't even gut them anymore.

Thats why I assembled a cooler and got set up to do stuff...that way it can sit in there a week and age and then you can usually get it processed in a couple hours.

I've never done one myself, or even helped someone else. My dad always took his somewhere to be done, but I'm fairly certain that butcher shop no longer processes deer.
When I lived a short stint in OH, I paid $50 to have a small deer processed and got over 25 lbs of cut meat and 8 lbs to be made into jerky. I feel that's worth it.
I always gut. Kentucky hills are steep and I don't want to chance spoiled meat travelling from where I hunt to a processor.
Hunting is 40 minutes south from the house. Potential processors (so far) are 20 minutes from the house, the other direction.

I used to pay to process and I still do if I want sausage made, but I have a friend with a really nice grinder/cuber and a vacuum sealer, so we all just do everything at his house. Takes forever, but we all drink and bullshit the whole time anyway, so it's not really a chore. I have mine dressed and on ice before the meat gets warm.

I used a kit for summer sausage and it turned out really good...even better than the processor...

I want to get one of those kits and a dehydrator. Eventually, I'd like to have my own processing equipment, too, but right now it's just too good to use someone else's lol
