Deer hunting BS thread

It won't bother the deer, they too curious to stay away.

Several years ago my dad and brother built a stand in a tree out of wood, sawing, hammering, etc. 3 hours later dad shot 2 deer out of it.

 

IDK, most of my experiences have come from hunting New England, the UP Michigan, and western Washington. So my 7 year stint in the yaupon patch in deep east Texas was a shock! BUT despite sitting with coral snakes and trying different Thermocell scents, the hunting was pretty awesome. learned a lot and if I was successful above 85* I would have the deer processed by a pro. (I’m too slow and don’t like to share with the yellow jackets) They (the deer) seemed to love timber sales too btw!

The man who took over the farm we were hunting just sent me this, he was in there at 9:30 this morning and he’s at work. It’s also 71°. Rut is on, they don’t care how warm it is. He’s never seen this deer before.

 

This is the guy who was riding his 4 wheeler to his blind and covering it up.

I told him he'd see deer he had no pictures of when the rut came in.

He walked in yesterday and saw 8 does that he wouldn't have seen had he been riding.

He shot one of the does before dark.

A buck came in to his camera after dark.

I've told him before to wait until December to shoot does.

Maybe one day he'll listen to me, lol.

 

Yeah its funny, because walking in will scare them off but riding ATV wont...right?

They are just like their dad, he has no emotion and rarely smiles. He is just like his dad was.

He text me yesterday and said his son was hunting another blind on that farm and the neighbor was shooting a .22 real close and ask if I had his contact info. I said no but take your pistol with you and shoot back, he'll get the hint

 

Finally saw some deer this morning.5 doe and a button buck.

Yup have not shot a doe in years .

 

Wife is taking both kids hunting this evening while I go visit dad in the hospital, they'll either kill a deer or she'll run off and leave me the kids. It's a toss up.
