Sorry but how was that not avoidable? The moment I saw a deer crossing the road, I slam the breaks because 9 out of 10 there will be more behind.

Oh off-topic, pointless statements!!! I have some too!!! Some people prefer pepsi to coke...some people even prefer to shower instead of a bath. And did you know some people don't like public transportation?

    ARB's aren't ugly

this thread was about deer impact protection for these trucks not whether or not you find aftermarket full plate bumpers aesthetically pleasing. As I and others have pointed out, slim bumpers won't protect your truck in a deer collision but an arb style will...I personally LOVE how ARB full front bumpers look...I don't care if others don't...whether you like the look or not won't change the fact that those style bumpers/guards offer the best protection against deer impacts.

Old advice I was given. If you're going to hit a deer speed up. You'll have a better chance it will go over you.

Personal experience. It doesn't matter if you speed up and hit a cow. You're totaled and so is the cow. I suppose today's airbags might have saved a trip to the ER and a couple of days in hospital.

mythbusters tested and that's a totally DANGEROUS myth...SLAM ON THE BRAKES...less force always equals less damage, totally confirmed...and the used a horse or cow I think.

Even in my 93 accord and 06 lexus the deer I hit never "flew over the hood", they hit the front corner panel and spun around and hit the side. Granted at impact I was only going 35-45 but still...the lexus killed the deer it hit.

And while slamming on the brakes even at 30 will reduce impact it won't keep you from hitting a deer, you can literally be staring at the spot of the woods a deer comes out from and it won't matter...in fact your lucky if you even SEE that you are about to hit a deer, usually you won't spot them until a millisecond before impact because they literally run INTO YOUR CAR from the woods and to see them you'd have to have your head to the right or left at near 90 degrees. Some people posting have obviously never had a real encounter with a deer and it's hilarious reading their complete fantasy of how they'd react and why they won't ever hit a deer XD
