Set the Forward Collision Warning to high sensitivity. I'm in a rural area where deer are as ubiquitous as squirrels. Have had several unpleasant run-ins in the past. Second rutting season with my Taco & no unplanned meetings so far. I've had several timely warnings from FCW. Great system.

    Congrats on the house.

I have lived in deer country for the last 30 years. I’ve hit six deer and had numerous close calls. Develop a good sense of where deer might be crossing in front of you, slow down especially at night and have good insurance. Also buy a vehicle that has paint that is easy to match. It’s not “if” you are going to hit a deer, it is “when”.

Had one of these on an older truck. Heavy and ugly as sin, but slammed into a semi tire at 70 mph and not a scratch on it or the truck. Things are insanely tough.

I can understand that. Allot of guys around southeastern Illinois hunt them around here. Buddy and his son just got back from hunting them at Fort Riley, KS. a week ago. Drove 574 miles to hunt yotes when they are out his back door. LOL!

They're scared of people so strap a person to the hood . My friend at UCF says there's a lot of crack heads in that area so that might be a good place to start

Love mine!! Haven’t and hopefully never will test out the animal impact protection abilities but it’s really well made extremely solidly built. Definitely correct on the suspension advice, I never had it on the stock suspension but thanks to covid lead times my new suspension(Ironman Foam Cell Pro w/ constant load front springs) came months before the bumper and adding the bumper was very noticeable, in my case that took it from way too stiff to just right but it would be horrible on the already too soft stock setup. Very true. Might add to that 'when' ... 'And how many times' ....
I've lived in a Deer Central for over 20 years now. Only ever hit a deer once. That was on an older lifted Dodge Powerwagon that had a decent bull bar on it. Damage was only very slight. Wished I could find the same thing for my Taco, but all the ones I've ever seen only come up to the top of the bumper and don't offer any radiator protection. I don't really care for the ones that cover the headlights as well, as my logic is that if I can keep the radiator from getting smashed, I can at least make it home.
The other thing I do is question whether I really need to drive during dawn or dusk. That's when everything turns into 'Deer Alley' ..

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
We could learn some lessons from the Aussies and their "Roo Bars". Kangaroos are about deer-sized with the same suicidal tendency to leap out in front of you and there it can be hundreds of miles between towns.

This is my strategy for avoiding wintertime accidents... If the roads are bad, stay home.

Ok that’s just excessive. A good 3-hoop steel bumper is more than enough, that looks like someone took a cow catcher off an old timey train

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
There's not much you can do if you happen to catch a deer in mid-leap and it hits the windshield .....

    Well said…

i was going camping with my gf a month ago and we were heading up at 10pm… i decided to go 25 in a 45 considering it was pitch black, no one behind me and I wasn’t in a rush to get there when i was only a couple miles from the campground and there were deer crossing signs.. 30 seconds later with my hi beams and ditch lights on, i saw one run right in front my my truck 25 or so feet. Obviously lights at 45mph wouldnt have done shit but lower speed and lights is what its for and saved my bumper.

I wish it wasnt there but $50 for the sunshade and it works great. I guess its their idea of marketing.
