Did you have the Oepen Country R/T's in Utah? How did they handle ice and snow?

Defcon, I've read every single page of this build (it is an AWESOME build!), and I have a question for you- why didn't you go with air bags in the rear? With all the weight you have back there and how much it seems like the weight on your truck changes it seems like it would have been a good idea. Plus you already have onboard air.
I ask because I am building a 2014 Tundra that is very similar to yours- truckvault, cargoglide in the rear, shell with roof racks, etc... I'm putting long travel on the front and was going to have a custom spring done by Atlas, but now I'm wondering if a set of Deavers and airbags would be better. Just very curious what went into your decision to not go with airbags?
Appreciate you posting this awesome build- your truck has been a huge inspiration for me to do an Overland style build!

Beautiful build, I love the adventurous feel! Sorry for the ignorance- but what is that black tube that come out from above the passenger side front wheel well?

I think your looking at the snorkel. Keeps your engine safe during water crossings.

I would think the main purpose is to get your engine breathing cleaner air in dusty conditions and secondary for water crossings. I guess it depends on your main terrain.

The bronze F5's look sick. My F5s go on tomorrow, they have the original scs bronze hidden under SEM matte black.

Inspirational build for sure @DefconBrix! Thank you for posting your build process with details and continually updating your photos along the way. I'm currently in the decision making process as to suspension and shell options for my truck and your page has been very helpful. One of my end-goals is a setup that is convenient for quick hiking/camping trips with my family so do you like and recommend your separate trailer setup for a CVT?
Thanks again and keep up the good work!

I have been slacking on TW a bit this year :(
The trailer set-up is ideal if you like to drive around and explore trails for sure. That way you don't have to constantly set-up and take down. When camp is set-up it stays there until you're ready to leave. I do have a rtt I put on the truck for the trips that the trailer isn't ideal on or the family isn't with me. I would recommend getting the CVT tent first and putting it on your truck an just see if the desire for the trailer during trips comes up. That's how it was for me.

I went through 2 winters in Utah (and traveling) on the R/T's and absolutely love them! They stay planted so long as you're not trying to whip it sideways lol amazing on and offroad tire that looks aggressive and have a longer tread life.

I originally had airbags for towing when I first bought the truck but took it all off when I decided to build it out. I have considered doing bags that can be disconnected easily or have the separate mounting cup so my rear can still flex out fully without ripping the bags apart. Just hasn't been too big of a deal to be honest. If I didn't go on so many trails I would likely consider it more.
Thank you so much!!! I am out of the Corps now, 4 years 2 tours. YATYAS. In the suck I was attached to a field MP unit and EOD.

Just a random photo I took at a loading dock while picking up some new wheels for the truck. After taking it I realized I didn't turn my fog lights on but was too lazy to take another photo lol

Trimmed up just enough! Running approximately 12-15 psi here.
