    Check the build thread.
Thanks! It was a Bestop Soft Shell. It was pretty cool and looked tough. After awhile though it developed a smell that just wouldn't go away.

I really loved this thread till you posted that photograph. John is awesome, dude gave me a guitar pick couple years back. Still have it too.

Sub'd Been looking to do the same thing to my truck, never thought about the cargo slider as all I've seen sat on the bed vs on top of the drawers. Great photographs as well!!

Can you provide some info on that custom canopy over the all-pro rack? I saw this pic a long time ago and just found your build thread. Would love to do something similar with mine. Thanks!

Thanks so much for posting this.

I'm starting to convert my 16' Tacoma into a more utilitarian option. Mountain Bike/Explore/Camp/Snow sports - Also a sales rep so Storage and Organization are key. I have a cap coming and was hoping to run a storage unit with platform on top that I can set up bed, hold bike, etc etc.

Originally I was thinking of building w/ wood but after seeing this, I definitely want to go this route. Have you any experience between the Decked system and Truck Vault? The Truck Vault looks more robust and a better design as far as use of space - But I've heard good things about Decked.

    Any input would

@adrwshry , the Truck Vault system is nice but pricey. For the Tacoma you'll be in the range of $3K-$4500 depending on specs and including freight. It's basically a 5/8" plywood system covered in Line-X. Unless you are willing to shell out that kind of cash I'd suggest building one yourself, paying a carpenter to build one, or looking into someone like Mobile Strong. Mobile Strong can do a HDPE system for less than $1600, and a build-your-own (or one built by a carpenter) unit should be in the $1K-$1500 range. Decked does not have a system for Tacomas yet.

Just at my local canopy store. Decked is not available for the Tacoma (as stated above).....

    http://decked.com/toyota/

Truck vault are and they are going for $2295 installed. I have a bed slide and it can be put on top of the drawers so it will be similar to Defcon which is a build I have admired for some time!! I also am putting a LeerLocker (http://www.leer.com/accessories ) in as additional storage (old, tired knees don't like crawling around in truck beds) and think together it is a good and secure solution.

    FYI....happy wheeling!!

    Hey Sean,
How is the truck vault secured on the front two corners? I see how its done on the tailgate side but just trying to figure out how its done on the back side.

Nothing thus far. Not wanting to do a whole lot, just some simple things.
how do you like that soft topper? does it get anymore dusty inside than a fiberglass?

Can't help but drool over these storage systems. If only they were lighter...
