Why Hydra-shocks? There are better bullets out there for the same money. Have you seen the write-ups on bullet testing that shows the failure of Hydra's to expand and get pluged with clothing? I'll try and find the links for the tests:

On M4Carbine.net Dr. Roberts does testing on a multitude of rounds. His screen name is DocGKR. http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=19887

Just a suggestion guys...you may want to run a box through of what you decided to carry as defense ammo, so that you know how the weapon is going to fire, function etc. Training ammo is often way different than carry ammo.

I like the ranger SXT. Does well in tests and performs like the old Black Talon.

Where did you see evidence of this? I'd be very interested.

Seems to have worked pretty good through glass if you ask me.

Also, if auto glass is the deal breaker for you, try the bonded bullets. RA9B (9mm) is the part number.

I was under the impression that Ranger SXTs are Black Talon's repackaged.

The SXT is an improved bullet design.

Well said. That's why most law enforcement agencies now require their officers to qualify using the loads they carry on a daily basis rather than lower powered training loads.

Practice with the same grains as what you carry, or you will not have accurate training.

In 2007 they renamed the SXT line "T-Series". They still market the civilian equiviant that you'll see packaged as the PX-1. In the part number code will say RA40T for 40 S&W RA9T for 9mm and so on. Then add a "P" on the end and those are the +P variants.

seen it first hand a couple of times actually

i shouldve added though, that its possible they were not dead on hits, but possibly glancing blows

we've had incidents involving windshields where there was no penetration and we've had some go smashing thru it like it was a FMJ rifle round

it's not a deal breaker as i dont have much of a choice in issued ammo

I have heard that sxt stands for same exact thing. You need to make sure you get the correct sxt or I can see the prob with penetration.
