Definitely better without the mud flaps…

Yeah, some of us get it....
I thought I was good with stock flaps & rock sliders, not so much....
But literally it was 2 specs...
Never see dirt or gravel roads...
Either way, no way in hell ide come on to a forum & confidentially try to convince someone / portray that my paint will be 100% ok & wont have an issue at all cuz I have a white truck, my wheels dont poke, on 35's....:frusty:
    It suicide waiting to happen...

Those tires pick up rocks all the time & to think they will only blow straight back within the fender well is insanity.....
    laughable....

Wow. You just re-wrote The Gettysburg Address in regards to mud flaps.

Have you ever written that ten chapter book to the owner of hundreds of thousands of Tacomas that come from TOYOTA without mud flaps?

Perhaps try sweeping your own porch…

I just put the wider Canadian flaps on my 2024 yesterday. Toyota revised the part number so I had to wait a bit. This should prevent much of the paint chipping reported in the other thread. I actually like the design MUCH better than the version that came on the truck........ Screenshot 2025-07-01 at 7.32.34 AM.png

You’re right, just because Toyota manufactures a truck without a mudflap must equate to it’s not an inherited issue /design flaw…

I had to write the Gettysburg address to get it through your dense skull, apparently it didn’t help…
Your ignorance blows me away, good luck…

Mud flaps are for goofy people and make their truck look goofier with their stock tires and wheels. Stay flapless.

    Depends on the State.
In WA state, RCW 46.37.500 requires them.

    Not like it's enforced.

We are also required to have a front license plate. Mine gets torn off from off-roading (seriously bad OEM location on my truck, the front sensors caused the manufacturer to locate the front plate hanging from the skid plate....) I've been driving years without one.

As I mentioned above, I was referring to The State of Ohio, but in addition, it's not a DOT equipment regulation either and that's federal.

If you watch vehicles (not just Tacomas) go down the street, if 100 cars pass by, less than 1/3 have mud flaps. People are way way way overthinking this one.

In addition, people say that you'll get stone chips on your paint. Okay, although that may be true, I am not sure which looks worse: stone chips....or those goofy looking mud flaps. It's a toss-up. LOL

Thats exactly what I was going to suggest here. You can go to a tint place or order a roll of it on Amazon and apply it yourself. Easy peasy.

BTW, I took my mudflaps off my 2000 TRD 20 years ago, no one has said anything ever and I have very minimal chipping after 257000 miles of on and off road.

I may suggest going with Clear Protection Film down behind the tires @BMunster, but then again, I wouldnt worry about it one bit.

Yeah I think they may be a little over-rated. Every time I got a rock hitting my windshield, it's been the exact same scenario: A Jeep with tires that stick 10" out of the wheel well, passes me on the left.....accelerating...and then because of their inability to drive and / or use two brain cells, swerve right over 20 feet in front of me, and here comes the rock. I am very careful about NOT doing that. I drive slower than most 80 year olds, and my tires barely poke out whatsoever as my 35x12.5x17s are mounted on wheels w/ +38 offset (see below).

My buddy got ticketed in his tundra for this back during duck season this past January.

    No front plate 124$
    No mud flaps 124$
    No fender flares 124$ (Poke)

To add insult to injury he wasn’t even driving. Truck was parked on the shoulder, on a gravel road, on blm land in the middle of nowhere. We Came back to tickets left on the windshield after hunting.

Still doesn’t apply to op though since he’s in a different state.

Retired LEO here: I can honestly say in 25 years, I never wrote chicken **** stuff like that. There are much bigger fish out there...my guess: BLM couldn't find the owner, got frustrated, and they laid paper on their vehicle. Just a guess...

    Truck looks slick!!

Only rocks that ever seem to hit my vehicle are coming from a dump truck or a trailer.

Haters gonna hate if you don’t conform, lol.

If I go to a firearm forum and talk about how I dirty carry a revolver in my waistband (legally w CCW), I should expect to catch a lot of crap about it being a bad idea. For both me and the people around me. Throwing rocks is obviously not anywhere near as serious as negligently sending rounds, but just because you can do it and just because you think it looks cool, doesn't mean you should.

    $0.02

I've got SEVERE broken windshield fatigue. Big time. Insurance covered a claim on my wife's car a couple months ago... almost four grand. And I've still got to deal with two of my trucks' needing glass. I get why the OP's catching some blowback.

So now we're comparing a firearm that sends JHP rounds @ 1300 feet per second.....to a rock ...that MIGHT come off your tire....and MIGHT not get stopped by the wheel well that surrounds said tire. Come on, people. That might be the dumbest thing I've seen / read all day. And I see / read a lot of dumb stuff.

Did you get an updated version of the Lasfit switchbacks and decide to start using them again? I thought you went Amber only.
