ok so this is the one we can ignore and just use pin 23 on the C29 connector correct?

@nm4553 Sure... assuming they also had access to the appropriate male and female connectors. It wasn't worth my time to scour DigiKey to see if they're available, but do feel free to look.

@ratcityrain Yes, go back to my annotated DEI diagram

I just referenced the above image that I had saved and that confirms it for me - thanks for all the help

Did a quick search for the appropriate m/f connectors. Only turned up pin out diagrams. I don't have the resources to search these P/N's. If someone has the ambition, you can take my money right now.

yeah, a true plug and play would have people jumping at the chance to pay 130-150 or probably even 200 for a kit. Go to a junk yard and find a bunch of crashed tacomas and pull the ecu plugs. Then just have to find the other ends. Probably possible with a 3D printer and someone bored enough

    :boink: Here we go again.

Just supply the harness, which someone did for other Toyota vehicles on eBay for $20. Plus pre-programmed DBALL for ~$40.

Good luck with that one. Value proposition and demand would likely be quite high on a full plug and play option that was 100% reversible. At least until others started releasing harnesses.

I believe you'll find those eBay harnesses are made by Directed (who makes the DBALL2), even though resold on eBay. AFAAs far as I know, Directed doesn't yet make a harness for our trucks.

I was serious in tagging KBVD, that'd be a great product if he has the production capabilities. I have zero interest in doing something like that so it's no skin off my nose if someone else does have the ambition and capability, assuming the parts are available at prices that'd make it feasible.

    See here: https://www.viper.com/smartstart/serviceplans.aspx

The $80 DSM300 (or VSM300) doesn't have the GPS and is the lower priced plan. The $150 DSM350 (VSM350) has gps and has the higher priced plan which adds the geofencing and speed alerts and so forth that some may find worthwhile. As far as I know you have to have the plan that matches the unit; i.e. you can get the DSM350 and put the lower priced plan on it.

Since I don't have any need for those extra features I chose the less expensive version.

@gpb - let me know what you think because I do plan to add the Smart Start to mine in the next month or so to overcome the range concerns with oem remote

I was able to start my truck from about 150-200 yards away today with only 3 clicks. I'll try from further tomorrow and see what I get.

That was line-of-sight 150-200 yd. Not sure about through buildings. Works from inside the house just fine though.

Try putting it up to your chin also. It helps with line of sight, not sure how well it'd help in buildings though. Would probably have to be able to see it out a window

It'll likely be a couple days before I can get the write-up put together, but the install was pretty easy. Just followed the directions.

LOL! Perhaps so. The watch app is part of the phone app, so nothing special as far as that's concerned. It is pretty cool though. Watch app also can lock/unlock. There's a few seconds delay on the commands though, so that limits the utility for unlocking vs just using the remote.

Why did I buy? There are some instances where remote start far outside the OEM fob range would be nice, as well as the ability to confirm door locks and so on. I considered going with the long-range extra-fob method but preferred the added capabilities of this, such as verifying I remembered to lock the doors from wherever I might be. Kinda sucks when you're in a different city and think you locked your doors at the airport parking lot but can't quite remember for sure...

Nice. Looks like it allows you to check trouble codes also?
