Good to hear, hopefully this morning was a fluke. All my windows were covered with frost. Not a ton of it, but enough to impeded visibility and it needed to be scraped off nonetheless.

Frost will quit happening once the temperature stabilizes below 32*F.

Always, always, always clear your windshield. Don't use the wipers as a scraper or for snow removal.

You may have interest in purchasing a windshield frost cover.

Alcohol may not "hurt the finish" but, it isnt doing it any favors. on top of that, it is removing and sealant, wax, ceramic, you have applied to protect your paint through the harsh winter months of salt, snow, rain, frost, road grime. get up 15 minutes early, remote start the truck, and let it warm up. Watch the hot water. The temp differences between the water and window can crack the window.

While Im sure it can, but in 21 years Ive never had it happen. But really it comes down to probably dont use boiling water when hot from the tap works just fine.

I think taking into account the condition of the glass should be a factor. If you have chips, then don't use hot water.

I see people trying to peel those off in pieces because they froze to the windshield.

Oh. That would probably be why I've never heard or seen them before. Perhaps they work better in places that get ice and snow and above zero temps in the winter eh?

Yeah, most people around MN just put the wipers up and use one of the 17 ice scrapers they have in their trunk because they buy a new one every year forgetting they already have one.

I just have several because of various sizes! But I don't have a garage and even when I remote start the truck in the mornings I'm still scraping before I can drive off.

Heck, I have had the defroster crack the windshield. It was the early generation of automatic climate control and it let the engine get warm before running the fan, walked out to a cracked windshield.

no major issues with the windshield prior although it certainly wasn’t a new windshield

grew up there as well, never saw anyone use one of those. Moved a bit further south (still get “winter”) and see tons use those things.

Not sure if this was mentioned but adding rain x or even a good ceramic coat on your windshield/windows help make the ice easier to remove….

I don't know about these things. I feel like between the effort it takes to put it on and take it back off I'd rather risk have ice on the windshield and just scrape it off.

OP I just remote start mine and let the defroster do the work. Then go back with a scrapper and it comes right off.

Reminds me of the women at work that put her sunshade on the outside of the truck. :anonymous:
