    "Familiarity Breeds Contempt."

A phrase my mother-in-law (rest her soul) would say when the situation warranted.

That's what I'm starting to feel at work.

I did not have time to notice it the first 12 months because of training/familiarity in this position.

Entering 17 months and my eyes have been opened.

Every organization is different but individually they (Org) cannot escape the dynamics which we get thrown into as we learn our jobs.

Not getting into specifics...just handling what I'm supposed to and interacting internally/externally to make this job better for everyone.

    Morning everyone!

Ed, sounds like you've got the right mentality - I've found at any place I work the person willing/able to do the most often winds up with most of the work. Staying "in your lane" can be a good way to mitigate, and you've got the right frame of mind polishing your output to make things easier for the rest of the crew. Best of luck to you!

    Thanks guys.

Yes, a little frustrated but that's because it's an easy job but human beings can sometimes make things harder than they need to be.

I'm trying to slow down and manage my attention/familiarity before reacting to conditions.

    I'll call it: Operation Mindfulness

I must remember that no one else thinks like me or takes action like I do in my daily duties.

It's nit-picky and I need to put a handle on it.

Thanks for letting me walk through some scenarios...I am taking a positive out of every result...which is 95% good. lol

    Good morning Delaware + Friends.:pccoffee:

I may be a little jet-lagged from last week's arrival back in Dover.

Fell asleep on the couch at 6:30pm...wife woke me up at 8:30pm and I just went into my bed. lol

Feeling somewhat well-rested...maybe a little too much sleep.

I hate when I get too much sleep and feel like crap all day… not that that’s happened in a long time though. Between the cats and dogs I’m lucky to sleep past 7am during the weekends

    I kinda feel refreshed...

I slept until 1:30am, when I happened to open my eyes and then look at my clock.

I fell back to sleep until my alarm went off at 5am.

It felt like I coulda kept on sleeping! lol

But, I forced myself to get out of bed and start my routine.

I've yawned a couple of times while processing 20 odd inductions.

I'm behind schedule on getting documents signed/scanned prepared for pick-up.

Also, I got up from my chair...because it's important...to step away from desk and walk off some energy.

We got a couple of back-to-back TEAMs meetings beginning at 11am--good thing I meal-prepped! lol

Very nice! My wife was up early to get to the hospital by 6 for work, and then the kids followed shortly after - almost 2 y/o started hollering just before 5, so the 8 y/o came down to our bed. Then the little one wouldn't settle so I brought him to our bed... And he decided he was awake for the day so we all got up. Threw a shot of espresso in with the coffee this morning tho so I'm actually feeling pretty good all things considered. Drop-off went smooth and my 9:30 meeting got rescheduled to noon so I've had plenty of time to catch up on work for the day.

I'm gonna take a page out of your book Ed and get up away from the desk after that meeting, might take a run in the rain before pick-up.

    Wattup Eric!

Welp, today is my last day of coverage for StandBy...went to the 7am MX Production Meeting...and I got a 1pm Teams Meeting that goes with the duty. lol

I'm definitely cleaning/clearing a lot of paperwork from the week I was in SoCal/LA.

And I'm definitely enjoying the upgraded suspension on my Sporty Spice.

Twas a foggy morning on the drive into work today...I always remember those foggy mornings when I was a young Buckaroo stationed at my first overseas assignment to England. (1989)

It's a "London Fog", I would call it because of the infamous dense fog in the city.

    Love this song!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l5q7uH_0xk

Grim faced and forbidding, their faces closed tight
An angular mass of New Yorkers
Pacing in rhythm, race the oncoming night
They chase through the streets of Manhattan
Head first humanity, pause at a light
Then flow through the streets of the city

They seem oblivious to a soft spring rain
    Like an English rain
    So light, yet endless
    From a leaden sky

The buildings are lost in their limitless rise
My feet catch the pulse and the purposeful stride

I feel the sense of possibilities
I feel the wrench of hard realities
The focus is sharp in the city

Wide angle watcher on life's ancient tales
Steeped in the history of London
Green and grey washes in a wispy white veil
Mist in the streets of Westminster
Wistful and weathered, the pride still prevails
Alive in the streets of the city

Are they oblivious to this quality?
    A quality
    Of light unique to
    Every city's streets

Pavements may teem with intense energy
But the city is calm in this violent sea

I feel the sense of possibilities
I feel the wrench of hard realities
The focus is sharp in the city

Sounds like fun. I’ve gotta work in Cape May this evening and decided to drop the pup off at boarding. We have a vacation this summer and can’t take her and don’t want to burden anyone with her till she’s older or leave her alone in the house.

    Is this her first boarding/kennel?

At least she will get familiar with the location for when you leave for a longer time.

Back in 2019 when we took a family trip to Dublin, Ireland...the kennel provided FB updates.

We found out our pup (Rest her soul) played well with others when we weren't around...wife said because she didn't have to protect us.

We have cats now, and wife will not board them...so, we have to find family member to stay with them at the house.

Look forward to hearing about your vacation!
