    Hey Eric,

Just doing chores and meal-prepping this morning.

Looks like it rained overnight...I lit a fire in the pit last night, everyone stayed inside and went to bed.

Enjoyed the quiet, for sure. lol

Sounded like a great storm. Cleaning up around the house today. Need to do a little work on my truck, something is squeaking in the front left. It might be the radiator/front mount bushing bad.

Also might chop the cab mount, but not sure if I’m feeling doing that much work yet. :sawzall:

Sometimes I wish I was fully retired...so I could do things at my leisure.

In my mind, weekends are for relaxing and spending time with family.

If I get to those chores, it's because I had to do them...at some point in the day. lol

I hear that and completely agree. I’m only 15 years from my first retirement

    LOL

You're going to continue working, of course?

I was fortunate in joining the military in the mid 80s at age 19 and staying in for 25 years...first retirement was at 44.

That was 2011 and 13 years ago!

I'm on my 9th job since military retirement...at least my Logistics/Material Mgt job is marketable! lol

Current job should be my last one before full retirement...it's gonna be a bumpy ride considering what's going on in the commercial aircraft side.

At 58 years of age, I say I'd be ready at 60 to retire but of course, cushioning the Savings with staying longer in the workforce is a priority.

Maybe 63...maybe 65...I'd like to say, the earlier the better.

If it's just the mortgage/insurance/property taxes/utilities...we'd be comfortable but on a tight budget.

Of course, my wife is almost 5 years younger than me so she'd still be working and I'd do the house maintenance!

Heck, if that's all I had to do is the chores/upkeep of the house, I'd find time to sort other things that need my non-immediate attention.

Sorry, I just rambled on all these things...but as you can see, those thoughts are in my head/cabeza! lol

Thinking and writing things down help sort things out. No worries! The Army was not for me so I was done after my 6 years.

If I had stayed in, I could have retired 3 years ago… maybe I would have stayed in if it was the Air Force.

I too am looking forward to when my days are my own.

I'm 56 and hoping to reach retirement in less than 4 years. I've been saving since 20, so we have a decent sized retirement fund to work with. It would only be for healthcare reasons that I would stay employed beyond 60.

It's good to have some kind of plan...and dreams of course! lol

When to file for Social Security is also something to evaluate...earliest is 62.5.

Our Site Lead turned 65 in August and is giving us younger guys advice. (59 & 58)

    Interesting...

I had the HVAC winter PM (Preventative Maintenance) check yesterday and also had the Water Heater serviced.

HVAC -- All systems check good. I did not buy additional services. Filter was in good condition so not replaced until April 2025.
Water Heater -- The domestic expansion tank had to be replaced; 2 year warranty.

We are good until Spring on HVAC and the Water Heater is still running strong since install in July 2017.

I need to drain my water heater… it’s been about 2 years since I’ve done that… luckily mine is a composite water heater so no anode rod to replace :bananadance:

Looks like mowing the yard will be part of the plans for this weekend. Though glad to not be down south in the path of the hurricane.

Seeing that your near it, I always stare at Brandywine Creek while driving rt 1 or 926 and think about what I might not be able to catch if I tied fishing in them.
