STOP listening to TW. It's a brand new truck. If you are doing everything correctly, take it to the dealer and make them fix it!!!

I have had the same problem with the truck not starting. The clutch needs to be pressed all the way down. My weather tech floor mats that I swapped out of my automatic truck was stopping the clutch from being pressed all the way down.

I have no idea why you would post this. The MT does indeed have brake-hold assist. Me thinks you haven't been on any hills lately.

    This is very strange indeed.

Sport MTs are supposedly marketed for street & city driving where HSA makes sense (to someone but not me) while the ORs are for... i guess that's all i gotta say.

You can't argue with Toyota. They do what they do. It's their world and we are just living in it.

    I do have floor mats.

I've cranked the engine 4 times today without experiencing this problem, so maybe the problem is solved. I have been pressing the clutch down super hard today after reading all these replies, so it looks like many of you are probably right. I just don't remember having to push down that hard to start my '95 F-150 MT and never had this issue before.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I think I read about somebody having issues with the clutch pedal safety switch being mis-adjusted, causing them to have to push really hard on the clutch pedal to be able to start the truck, if the issue returns I would try to start in neutral using the clutch start cancel switch, if it starts right away that way check with the dealer.

Mine does require the pedal to be all the way to the floor, you may have just not gotten all the way down when you had the issue, easy to do on a new to you vehicle. Hell, I still do it every once in a while.

I've seen what you are talking about I think, but the delay should only be a couple seconds. If I crank it and it doesn't turn over before I let go of the key (I do this sometimes after driving my wife's car since she has automatic/electric start and all you have to do is turn it and let go and the car starts itself, as opposed to the Tacoma MT which you have to hold and let crank until it turns over like older vehicles), then I can't immediately try again for 2-3 seconds. After that though I'm able to retry cranking it. It should definitely not delay that long before being able to retry starting it up.

Did we ever get a solution to this? For everyone who responded with “yoU hAVe to pUSh the CluTCh aLL thE waY DOwN”...duh....ive got a 2015 MT and have just recently started to have this issue. Used to just push the clutch in, and she would turn over just fine. Now I sometimes push the clutch in, crank the key all the way, then have to back off and crank again before she turns over. I’ll also point out that it seems like it’s usually the first start of the day, after she’s been sitting over night or something
