That's exactly what my brother did at his wedding earlier this year. He made it understood we were all there for a reason and if he could he would make us all his best man. In the end I was because him and I have been through more than him and my younger brother. We were all good friends already so it wasn't a big deal.

I recommend having some fun with it like the other guys said. I'll now be doing that whenever I get married between my brothers and best friend. But it's already decided for me anyways. It'd be just for fun and some good ole competition.

He = your brother? Or friend?

Don't do anybody courtesy, if you were talking about your brother in that paragraph, then it sounds more like you'd ask him to be your best man out of sympathy than courtesy. If the relationship is only 30% decent then you already know what to do, and that's the right decision in that circumstance. Your brother should be understanding of the situation without needing to be sat down and coddled apologetically about why you chose your best friend instead. If he can't, then I'd let him stew on it and figure out his own way. Sounds like he has a little growing up to do, treat him like a man.

Then I would have to enthusiastically recommend your friend!
For me the only difference between my relationship with my brother and my friends is the blood. They are all there for me no matter.
Sounds like your friend is the one who is really there for you. If your brother is insulted, you can talk to him about it, but I doubt he will be.

    That.

Or maybe he would be, which is fine. People have the right to be offended. Family included.

I have two brothers so I chose my best friend, which was the right choice anyways. It's not out of line to choose your friend as your best man as they have been close to you for that long. Two best men is a good idea as well as long as they get along with each other though.

At 22 I'm sure your brother just wants to get his wick wet with some of the brides maids so he will be happy either way.

The only think you can say with certainty is that in 50 years your brother will still be your brother. Anything can happen with friends.

The same can be said for brothers, like the guy who said his brother blew off the wedding and the later reception, but the friend was there.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
My brother may be blood, but I wouldn't call him if I was dying and needed any sort of donations.

2 Best men is a complete cop out. There is always a 2nd best man, let's face it. And 2nd best is 1st loser.

My best friend got married two months before I did. His brother was his best man. But it didn't matter to me cause he was happy. Plus took the stress of losing the ring off of me and giving the speech. (Still had to anyways).

Fast forward two months later he was my best man. And my step dad was a groomsman. had I said hey man Robert has been there for me through thick and then so I hope you understand my best friend would have gave two cares about it.

I say just sit down and talk to them about it.

    True.

Also true. Last night we booked our reception hall and my friend was texting me how I was doing and how the wedding planning is going and my brother just didn't seem to care really.

    Thanks

maybe it's just me, but it seems like no best man and two best men are the exact same thing... Unless there are more than two groomsmen.
