There is an over/under- Post about which oil, the rear leaf TSB, voiding your warranty, tire size, or a thread that is on the front page- You are either lazy or clueless about the internet. There are stickies or high post count threads with those questions beaten to DEATH. Post up about a part or other specific question- Probably worthwhile.

Being rude to new guys isn't helpful- but pointing them at search is totally worth it. A quick synopsis of the "right" answer and a "Try searching this term: (insert term here)"...Giving him the answer right off means all he'll ever do is coming on post his questions and expect answers ASAP...Tell him about search he can get all sorts of knowledge for himself.

See...This just doesn't make sense to me- If you want to have a discussion about something- Then look around and see what has been said. The first thread or two about lots of these topics have been around for a long time and they have GREAT information in them that people spent the time to put together- and starting a new thread about the same thing again won't get those quality responses.

If there's a question about something- Gotta be interested in finding the answer, not just expect to get handed it. It might be a forum- but is it fair for the folks who do know their stuff to have to say the same things over and over and over again??

x2 - looks like he did - the post before your was written at 1.20am with the shift key in full force, then your post at 1.25am, then an edit to his at 1.27 with nary a sign of the shift key.

On a remated note, don't you hate it when people post stuff when they're drunk?!

Not using Search can be something as simple as they got too many hits that were not related or didn't get the detail they were hoping for.

The ones that make me go WTF are you find the same exact Title, same cut and paste simple question on 3 different forums.

Do they really think they are going to get a different answers by posting 3 different places?

The way we de rail threads around here, many searches turn up with nothing. If someone makes a post you dont like, Ignor it. Everyone here has been new to these trucks at one point, and has asked "What kind of air should I put in my tires", or whatever. Janster said it best.

Well I've searched and not found either because I am blind and look at something and don't see it or because something I am looking for has a different name in the post then what I put in the search, at that point I ask for a link and so for someone has always been kind enough to supply it, I then put it in my bookmarks so I don't have to bother anyone again. Thanks to all that have helped me in the past and will help me in the future.

I'm new to this forum, but not new to forums in general. I agree it can get a tad irritating at times, but like others have said you don't have to post in it. Something I notice when a duplicate thread is started, is that people usually add new pieces of information that weren't in the original one. Not always, but a lot of times someone has tried something different and chimes in or has been using said product for that much longer says it's still going strong with no problems. I don't know, just my thoughts.

I see a good deal of similar threads over time. I can't really get spooled up over them. I can't help but open oil, spark plugs or filter threads, just to see what the OP is asking. If it is much the same as others, I move on down, no big deal.

I do get mildly annoyed at those who lecture or scold posters about using the search engine. I think such post defeats the purpose of a "forum". As mentioned above, this is not strictly a database or a FAQ site otherwise the owner should disable the posting ability for members and have most of them wander away due to lack of interest and interaction.

Hey all, I'm pretty new and i will say that i didnt even know where the hell the search engine for this site was and it was staring me in the face! It takes a bit to get oriented. Maybe there should be a Newbie Thread started that says something like "All Newbies Read This First" (each word can be capitalized just for you MY50cal :) )It could basically be an orientation to the site. Not like the if your new forum but an instruction manual for the site. I'm still trying to figure out how to do the quote thing, have a quote or pic be automatically added to every post i put out like some of you do, as well as what some of the lingo is. slowly i figure out the acronyms and stuff but its tuff. like when i get good info from someone how do i put that towards someones rep?

So whenever you see something that one of us newbies does that pisses you off you can go and add it to the post:)
