    Thanks for this. I'm about to be installing 6 accessories that will all be switched using relays. Can you explain some of the symbols on these diagrams.
    For my set up I will be getting power from a 6 fused Blue Sea auxiliary fuse block that is hooked to the battery. Which of the diagrams above is the right one for my set up?

    How much current do those lamps draw that they need to be on relays?

    Do yourself a favor; check the current draw on your accessories, check the current CAPACITY on your chosen switch. If the switch capacity is equal or greater to the draw from the accessories it will be controlling, just leave out the relay to save yourself money and headache.

    The use of a relay like those ones (single on/off switch) is for TWO purposes;
    1) Switching a current that exceeds the switch,
    2) Using power from circuit A to control the state of circuit B, i.e., the extra draw from circuit B would put the total load on A over its limits if you just tied it straight into A.

    I would stay far from the last 2 pictured in the first post.

    There is an unfused wire between battery and relay. Ground it out for some reason things might happen. Fuse always as close to power source as possible.
