Wait so it is related to VIN? Is there a date range too?

It is definitely related to your VIN...i just want to know if there is anyone with the v6 and auto whose vin is not listed, but i think they all are. I don't see a date range, but it looks like all 2016s were affected with v6, auto.

If you look at stickied thread, the op's post with the pdf, on the first page it says under applicability...Years, models, and additional information. It has all the VDS(s) - vehicle identification numbers listed.

Wonder if all 2017s will get the update. If so seems like it should be no questions asked update if customer requests it for their 2016. Dumb.

You would think that the issue would be addressed for all 2017s with the v6 and auto transmissions.

Obviously yep. I agree. Just seems silly to me that dealers would.give any kind of push back to a customer who requests the TSB for their 2016

Yeah...if they are giving you issues then they do not know what they are talking about or must be unaware of the tsb.

You shouldn't have to leave your truck over night to have them duplicate the issue or whatever...

And you shouldn'thave to wait for your 10k service either. If dealer gives you a hard time just go to another I guess. Better yet show them the tsb printed with vins affected and show them yours on the truck.

Not that I'm aware of, looks to just select the different configurations of V6 with the AT to include AC, SB and LB across all trim levels.

Is it possible there are more than 8 different configurations as that's how many are listed with the VIN numbers?

That is probably what the difference of the VIN numbers represent...just different configurations of the truck.

Maybe I'm stupid or can't read my VIN number correctly (5TFEZ5CN8GX016*** - I'm not showing the last 3 on purpose) but I can't find it among the VIN's on the TSB. Am I reading it wrong or is the TSB not applicable to my truck...as I noted above, I've never noticed any transmission problems "yet".

Btw, the truck is a DCSB 2X4 Limited.

All good, starts with the 4th digit, and is 5 digits long, so just go into your dealer and print the tsb or write the tsb number down.

I wonder if and how this new flash will effect the 2017 MPG numbers.....And what it will mean for the 2016's.

I'm also a little surprised my local service tech hasn't called me about the new TSB after the couple times this spring I'd been in cussing about the transmission issue....Not in a bad way as he knows people are frustrated....I had mentioned I had read about an upcoming flash on Tacoma World but at the time he hadn't heard anything yet but would call me if he did........I think I've actually got a decent relationship with him....I think....Mmmmm

That would be correct. No vin listed, you are ok. If you see your vin bring it in.

    The listed vins starting with 4th digit (from left to right) include: AZ5CN, BZ5DN, CZ5AN, DZ5BN, EZ5CN, GZ5AN, RZ5CN, and SZ5AN.

    Engine: 2gr (v6) Transmissons: 6AT

Just got mine back after dropping it off yesterday Fremont Toyota did the TSB update and I swear it's quicker off the line and smoother through 1st to 4th , punch it at 55 and it move out faster.
    And I don't believe it's a placebo effect !!

Mine is going in on the 25th for the control arm plugs and falls in the VIN range for this so I may as well get it done too.

I really havent had any complaints in how it drives but if it make D more use able around town, may as well have them flash it and see.

I tried to stop in yesterday to get it done. The service lady seemed a bit lost. But she always seems to be. I had to give her the TSB print out. then she told me they cant do it on a sat cause only 2 people working there. I dont get whats so difficult about hooking it up and having the computer reprogram the ECU. so I have to take it back wed to have it done with my 5000 mile check
