I'm no lawyer, but if the contract doesn't state the trim level, then there probably ain't much you can do. Have you smeared the shit out of them on every sort of social media?

While I’m no expert, I don’t think you have much recourse. If the only written proof you have is the advertisement, assuming you saved a copy, it will surely have a disclaimer saying that they are not responsible for typographical errors.

Worst case, you learned a valuable lesson, and a good one to learn at 18.

How did the price of this SR compare to other SR5’s you were considering?

Man...this really isnt worth the time, effort or MONEY to pursue this legally. Learn from your mistake, move on with life. Dont let that "5" stop you from being "as happy as you can be".

Curious what are the main difference between the two? Anything that you can't upgrade down the road?

Does it have the engine you thought it did? Hopefully it has the v6 if that is what you were lead to believe is what I'm saying.

Rough. I'm not sure what you can do now that so much time has passed. Personally I go into it knowing that the dealer will outright lie, NOT because they are bad, but because they dont know the product too well. Before I bought my truck I knew exactly what trim I wanted and what price I was willing to pay. So when I showed up to the dealer I was pretty confident, and didnt let them talk me into something I didnt want. Long story short. Do you feel like you overpayed for the SR?

Nope. No recourse. Shitty lesson, but better learned sooner rather than later. For every major purchase, don't trust that the seller will provide all the information that you need. Learn as much as you can from as many different sources as you can. Manufacturers websites are a good start.

... If you think car buying is tough, wait until you start shopping for a house. :hattip:

Sounds like you guys should’ve done a couple minutes of research before spending $20k.

Right? Wait until you're paying $500 per house you look at for inspection just find out it has a deal breaking flaw. It hurts

About a $2000 difference. Just the fact that the salesman screwed us over pisses me off. He acted as if he was "a man of god", which were his exact words. He even showed us his bible that he has on his desk. Just shows me to not trust anybody, especially people that aim to make a profit.

You let the salesman screw you over by not doing your due diligence to know what you were buying. It’s a tough lesson but hopefully one that will stick with you and as a young guy will save you a lot of time, money and headache in the future.

I worked in a VW dealer for many many years. 90% of sales guys and service writers are scum. Look for the old guy who doesnt give a flying fuck because he retires at the end of the year, or look for the one who uses the least amount of hair grease to slick back their hair.

leather-trimmed steering wheel, Entune Audio Plus, variable intermittent windshield wipers, an upgraded tire pressure monitor system, fog lights, remote keyless entry, some chrome accents, blind-spot warning lights on the side-mirrors, from what I can remember right now. If I'm being honest, I couldn't care less about extra features since its my first car. I dont need all the bells and whistles. What I do care about, is the fact that I was scammed. If it was labeled as an SR, then I would've been fine.

Dealers often don't know anything... they just like to pretend that they do. Which is why you should always do your own research and know what you're getting no matter what the ad, or dealer, says. As mentioned, you can add the SR5 features you want without much fuzz. If you got a good deal just enjoy the truck! As mentioned above, hopefully you got the engine you wanted.

Yes it does, thankfully. Unfortunately my parents opted for the 4 cylinder though.
