not on 3rd gen. It has a front door emblem "tacoma" and SR5 behind the rear doors in the C, D pillars.

OP there's no point in continuing to stew about this, you stated that it was a good price, the deal is done, you've learned something in the process and you have a great truck.
In reading your post you're obviously an intelligent articulate young Man. Get on with your life, enjoy your truck and consider this one of the many lessons we learn in life.

This is the God's honest truth right here. Shut the thread down.

I can't tell you how many times I've been on a lot and asked set up questions to the salesman. As soon as they open their mouth you can tell they don't know much about their own product.

I had a Chevy Cavalier Z24 convertible when I was 18. Thought it was the coolest thing ever.

One day I flipped on the turn signals and the stalk broke right off. I used vise grips for a turn signal stalk.

Sometimes the fitting that connected the shifter to the transmission would fall off and I couldn't shift. Park also didn't fully engage and it once drifted down a hill.

You got a good price, you got a cool truck, and you have no idea if the mixup was intentional. Enjoy it. Customize it. I would've loved to have any Tacoma at that age.

    OP,

Not sure where you stand as far as upgrades to SR5 level, but don't jump onto an audio upgrade without doing research not on what you might get but what you will most likely use. I'm not sure what features the SR audio has, but I have Entune Audio Plus on my SR5. It neither overwhelms me nor underwhelms me compared to others I've seen and the degree of "fiddling" I need to do to use it. I don't have nav on my h/u, I downloaded Scout GPS and am not impressed so will probably delete it. You can always do Waze on your phone. I couldn't care less about Series(sp?) or XM. If your h/u doesn't have bluetooth hopefully it has an AUX IN port, so I think you should be able to feed any phone audio apps you want into it one way or another. I have Pandora, which is great, and Radio.com set to KROQ2 ready to go with 2 taps, but I tune into Houston's 106.9 95+% of the time.

    Good luck!

Every single time a business has brought the lord stuff into the equation they have tried to rip me off. Every single time and there have been quite a few. On example: One time I was really busy , (working, kids, side business and rental) getting a bid on a heat system for the rental, just was going to with the company recommendation by the prop manager. Then the business sent me a quote and said god bless on the bottom, made the light bulb go off for me. Got another quote from a different heating company and saved 1100 bucks.

My my girlfriend and her parents had a similar problem with the trim level.

She was upgrading her sedan to a newer year and wanted the same exact trim level which was the sport. They didn't have the sport and told her the only difference was the spoiler and they would add it to the one they had for free..

Failed to mention the 15 other things it didn't have, but she was happy and she saved money not buying the sport. Just wish I was there to hear him say that bullshit.

In my 60's have a SR access cab V6. Got a SUV for hauling people and don't off road so for me a really nice truck. Have pretty much
" SR5 ed" it at this point though, just need keyless entry, which I wouldn't even care about if there was a keyhole to unlock on the passenger side. Anyway to the original poster, echoing what a lot of others have said, You are 18 and have a great truck, the world is yours right now, enjoy!

Sounds like you didn’t do your due diligence to start. Also sounds like the salesman was probably going off the add listed and not the actual truck. Biggest thing to remember most people selling shit on that volume don’t know their product. They generally just know the basics and brush up here and there to be confident in their sell.

You mentioned all these “options” you don’t have. Well again. You didn’t do your due diligence and research what your parents or yourself were buying. It’s 2019 and you have way more resources available to you than most of the members here including myself when we bought our first vehicle.

Now I could be 100% wrong and the salesman saw you and was like, “yep. Gonna hook this one.” But still I doubt that was the scenario. Not saying dealers aren’t shady but they sure as hell aren’t going to sell you a less expensive model on purpose so they scam you. That’s their paycheck.
