Being a full time student is the first issue. Then there's the issue of funding for a month long trip. I'm not employed during the school year, because of a contract that I have with DoR, otherwise I'd be employed. Other then that, I really like to travel with my dad since he's taught me everything, but his FJC is with his fabricator right now and he's recovering from a broken collarbone. Next year I'm aiming for at least once a month during the school year, and then just get out as much as possible during the summer.

Let your dad driven our truck and ride shotgun. You've done it enough in the fj.

I used to just work all summer too. Two weeks before school starts is when I used to do it. Worked great.

Yea, you'd think that by how much I've seen my dad drive his FJC, I'd learn a thing or two about off road drive, or mainly rock crawling. I really should step back from the passenger seat and hop in the drivers. It's something I should just get in the habit of.

Don't really like the first one I made. I think it's a little to long and the legs need to be taller. The one i made for @outdoorAZ is one I'd probably make again for me. That one has nice spots for shovel and hilift mounting.

That one looked super nice! I'm hoping once a local guy gets a new welder we can knock that out

Yeah, I'm very happy with that one. I learned a lot of things of what to do and not to do when I built mine haha

You wrap it in a towel? It's a truck bed! It's made to get beat up!

You say that. I strapped mine down and put a towel around one end of it and it nearly put a hole in my bed. I'm going to be making a pair of mounts that just bolts to my bed in the coming weeks. I ain't dealing with a hole in my bed. It's put a pretty good dent in it already.

Nope. I was going to get the bed Line-X'd but that's an $800 investment I'm not ready to make.

Haha same, I took my drop in one out and got some quotes on how much spray in liner is. Then got home and put the drop in one back in. Too much

How the hell?? I've kept mine in the bed just strapped in on one side and it was fine for many trips. I guess those mall curbs are pretty wicked huh? :p
    Ah, makes sense then.

I'll get it done one day, but for now I'm going to start looking for some spare parts. My dad is getting his "wheeling agenda" going and I'm going to be joining him on most of the trips.

Well, when I went to go run Slick Rock, the towel was on, but apparently it wasn't on enough so about 1/2 mile into the trail and I hear steel on steel and just accepted it. Either way, I'm making mounts so I don't have to deal with it.

Because not every trip I'll be making will involve my RTT and bed rack. Whenever I get to running the Rubicon I'm definitely going to try and shed as much weight as possible. If the mounts were on my bed rack, then I'd have no place for the hi lift, hint the reasoning for mounting in the bed. Also if my family was to take a trip over to Moab, I'd just leave the RTT and bed rack at home for that.
