Just to clear up a little confusion on the rear springs verses rear shocks. I just got off the phone with Jeremy over at Icon because there is a lot of info floating around and I want to make sure we all are on the same page with rear shocks to springs.

So Icon's rear shock should work with the dakar leaf packs. The only time it won't work "as well" is if you are running a expedition or really big rear spring and no bed weight. At that point it could ride at or near full extension. They do offer a "custom" rear shock that is a 2.0 resi (they also offer a 2.5in but lets focus on one) the standard lengths for their rear 2.0 resi are collasped 14.25 and extended 24.25. The "custom" shock is 16.25 collasped and 26.25 extended. Making it two in longer BUT and this is a big but they have not test fit it in house to make sure it clears. The biggest concer I would have is you could potentially being using your shock as your new bump stop and damaging it or your shock mounts. We've seen this before and it's not pretty. So you may need to run longer bump stops. At that point you aren't really gaining travel you are just moving it down so instead of compression you have more extended length. The other thing is because it's custom the shocks will run $315.00 each verses $278.00 each.

I hope that helps, if you have any questions please let me know.

Hi JDEMELLO. Since you are close to the subject wanted to see your opinion. Do you see any meaningful changes happening with the ICON setups for the gem 3's? Example would be if I go with a stage 2 now will they revise it soon? Would you go for it now or wait?

I have a year of experience to support this. I bought the standard length rear Icon shocks from Demello about a year ago and have been running them with medium duty Dakars (no extra leaf) and they have been awesome. Outstanding combo. No issues what so ever. That being said, I wish I would have bought the extended travel. The springs will extend about .5-.75 inches more than the regular shock. And, as we know, a .5 inch is a lot. ;)

Nope, Nothing I can see coming down the pipe. They are basically the same suspension and set ups.

Is this discount only good for what is available on your site, or can it be applied to anything that is offered by Icon for Tacoma's? (i.e. Icon Stage 7 System) :D

In looking at Icon's packages, most of the upgrades focus on the front suspension. What is the next best upgrade to the rear axle beyond springs (Dakars) and the 2.0 shocks? Basically, I've got $$ set aside for new front RR COs, but want to make sure the rear axle can keep up. Would it be better (more balanced) to forego remote reservoir front COs and get better rear shocks? or hydraulic bumpstops?

If it was me, I'd go with the 2.5in rear shocks and bump stops. Maybe even the CDC's. But give me a call and give me some more back ground on what you are doing with the truck. Maybe that's over kill for you?

Thanks! I ordered a stage 1 today for my 2016 DCSB OR.

I'm a fan of the "stuffed" look but don't want rubbing, going to run 285/70/17. Any advice on what to set the coil overs to? 2"?

The 20% off was off Icon's online listed prices. We updated ours recently to reflect that. That's all we are allowed to discount them at. But if you find a better price, let us know and we will see if we can match it.
