Demon Hooks for 2nd gen tacoma

I was curious if anyone has ever purchased these?

 

Those look pretty cool. Now I’m curious as well. Maybe someone will chime in.

 

I’ve seen pictures on 3rd gens.

Skip these and just get a hybrid low profile bumper

Looks like a good design that transfers pulling forces directly to the frame without relying on the bolt's shear strength.

I would not use those with only one bolt. I'd recommend this instead

Even though it uses just a single bolt, the bracket doesn't rely on the bolt for strength.

I don't recommend Demon's blingy lockable shackles though. No point in keeping the shackles installed in everyday driving, because you gotta remove them to loop in the recovery rope anyway.

 

Easy to install. The bracket wraps around the frame. The bolt holds the bracket in place. Load is transfered throughout the bracket and not just on the bolt. I wouldn`t hesitate to use them.

 

Just ordered a set. Won't be able to put them on until February, but looking forward to trying them out.

So these brackets are no joke. Very heavy and built well. I also bought some white 3/4 shackles to match my white paint. I bought everything on Amazon and it came in about 3 days with prime. Very pleased. These brackets use the existing bolts that are in the frame.

Do the brackets come as a pair or singles?

 

I don't like the look of two thin plates with rubber in between for anything but the straightest pull. Deflection under load is no good. Should be made with a piece of solid stock welded all around. The word "styling" in their name gives me another clue that they probably arent made for serious work.

 

They are all steel. No rubber at all, but I can see how you could infer that from the picture. They are much better than what they are replacing. Should be more than enough for the occasional pull.

 

They come in a pair. They are marked Deiver side and passenger side.

 

So a couple of steel washers in the middle?
