Perfect, I have a superwhite 2015 (ordered red shackles just because), can't wait to put them on in February. Glad to know they go on easy with no modifications.

Essentially. That section is about an inch wide and pretty solid.

I agree that if someone plans on frequent use as a recovery point there are better options. I run them to keep my weight down. I already have a winch up front and do not want the additional weight of a steel bumper.

So pretty much decoration compared to the stock recovery hook and a soft shackle.

If thats the way you wanna look at it. They are definitely usable. They bolt directly to the frame. I got them for looks.

Even the stock configuration is decoration. A good old bowline around the frame would work just fine.

This thing is far, far, from decoration. It just doesn't have the jewelry factor.

It’s really frustrating when online businesses try to take advantage of Canadians. It’s one thing to jack up the shipping costs, but to rape us on the cost of the product as well is really unacceptable.

But your healthcare is cheaper right? That does suck though.

If by cheaper, you mean free?

thanks, I appreciate the offer. But I can order through the American Amazon app for $135 delivered to my door, or I can send it to my in-laws who are snow birding in Arizona, and they can just bring it back north in April.

All of these attach to the little front x-member to which the OEM mounts the leading edge of the "skid plate" under engine/trans assembly. It is suspended under the actual frame structure (that the crushable aluminum "bumper" mounts to). The structure going down to it is a four-sided (sheet metal) box with a big hole in all four sides. This is the reason Toyota engineers won't go out on a limb and say you can put dynamic loads on it. Hanging out the ends of the crossmember is a cute little box - that seems to have no purpose other than closing the open ends. My own engineers think this is a manufacturing feature.

After getting a look at this area with the plastic and aluminum out of the way..... I elected to remove the two little tin manufacturing(?) boxes and anchor a chunk of metal up inside the crossmember. I used 1.0 inch thick 6061 T6 aluminum, the same yield strength as A36 mild steel - so a common solid steel bar would work as well in the same size (but heavier).

    Double Shackle Attachments.jpg
I keep the two 3/4 shackles in my recovery gear - along with a "tree protector" strap to utilize both attachments at once.

I just ordered mine. Once it gets in I'm going to sand down the area. Bolt it up. And then weld it directly to the frame

Question, the brackets are listed for 09 & up. What is different on a 2008 that makes them unusable?

You immediately determined you didnt like it. that's fine. but why search for reasons, only to be shown wrong, then move to another reason?
