Got a rather large dent in my muffler last time I was out on the trail, does it need to be replaced?

A little dent like that is nothing to worry about. Keep on trucking, and don't worry about it.

Nope, just might alter the exhaust note a bit. Take it you've never rode dirt bikes, dents, dings, etc. in exhaust pipes and cans are pretty standard. Now you got a memory. Lol.

I actually ride a crf250r, but I spend most of my time with it in the desert and sand so I guess I've never managed dent it.

There’s a video floating around of a couple guys with a motor on a dyno. They baselined the motor, put a bunch of dents in the exhaust, and dyno’d it again, and it made either no difference or gained a hp lol.

You’ll be fine as long as you didn’t crease your exhaust shut.

edit: found it. It made more power!

Gotcha, not an MX'er. My old bike, miss my 16 crf250r, great bike. On a 19 yz250f right now.
