dent in tailgate

    i have a dent in my tailgate on my 2003 taco. is there any way to take the tailgate apart to get to the ding? i will post pics.

    and i have tryed getting to it from the locking mechanism but its just a little bit too low. is there anyway to take the tailgate completely apart?

    Sure can, both 1st and 2nd gen Taco's have a two piece Tail Gate, the inside is held in place with some screw, large silver.

    Just be careful on putting the screws back in and stripping the receiver for the said screw.

    Also, if you are going to pop from the inside, use a "soft" tool to not scratch the anti-rust coating on the metal.

    I cannot remember if the 1st gen has the fiber material on the inside of the gate or not.

    That will make it more of challenge if the dent is right on the other side of that stuff.
