Trying to see if someone has knowledge or has rebuild one of these on a 3rd gen. After swaping the front diff, the diff slipped and put a inch legth dent. No noticable issues but wanted to confirm there is no seal traveling through that area. Thx all

I honestly don’t know, but if it’s not leaking and doesn’t have friction spots like it’s bent,,, I’d leave it.

Looks to me like an assembly crimp to retain the aluminum piece on the left. Most likely there’s another one on the other side, if not 3 more (top, back, bottom)

As others have stated, that's supposed to be there. The two halves of the rack slide together there and that crimp keeps them in place. I only recently learned this is how some racks are designed due to my first gen buddy splitting his rack in half.

With no paint missing and it being pretty straight and vertical, I would agree that is a factory crimp during assembly and prior to painting.

Ignore the larger Tundra rack, you can see on the Tacoma rack what I'm talking about.
