not to take anyone out of the loop....but someone needs to do a write up on how to do this mod for us rednecks down in the south and other parts of the country where a weekend trip to cali or being without the cluster for a couple of days isn't feasable

You can drive without the cluster. There are write ups around. It just takes soldering skills. most people don't want to attempt in fear of damaging the cluster. I have had to fix a couple for people who messed up.

So aside from all the LED's you already mentioned above, how many/what 'indicators' are there? (I'm at work and can't get to my truck right now)

Also, What color scheme is this second picture? I like it a lot except for the greenish gears - those i'd like blue like the first pic.

Hes talking about all the warning lights. Most people dont change them.

The second pic is blue with white needles with the backs of the needles scraped but not repainted.

For reference here is a pic to show the size of the LEDs in the cluster.

all depends on your shipping method...i suggest calling them right now and telling them you need them by friday...i'm working on the truck all weekend so i'll be around, that would be perfect...

there are at least three separate writeups already; one here, one (maybe two) on xr-underground, one on toyotanation, adn seth has a disassembly on his site...what more do you need?!!

also, like mentioned, you can drive w/o the cluster...

indicators i personally like to change: headlight, cruise, and low fuel...thats all i do.

also, for the gears, you need one backlight LED, then an LED for each gear. i personally always suggest you leave "R" the OEM amber for safety...

let me know if you have any other questions...

Damnit guys! it's sooo difficult to choose!:p

Yosh, Why is Seth's (second pic) blue needles blue'er' than the first pic? Would you be able to get the needles to be THAT blue? Is it just the lighting of the picture?

If you can get the cluster to be like the last picture, what LED's do I order?

    White background (Tach,Speedo,Temp,Fuel, & ODO)
    Blue Needles (Tach,Speedo,Temp,Fuel)
Blue gears (except REVERSE - keeping that OEM)
^^ What do you mean by backlight?
    Blue Headlight indicator
    White Cruise indicator
Red Low fuel light (Or is that OEM??)

I use the same Oznium LEDs. I think the difference is because of ambient light and cameras. I usually repaint the backs of the needles white for blue leds, but I have some blue paint and want to try painting the backs blue. i think it will give it a much deeper blue color during higher ambient light situations. Im not sure what he means by back light.

yea, difference is in cameras and such, if you looked at those two cluster side by side in real life, would look exactly the same

    so, for the above...
    blue: 15
    white: 11
red: i have one i can use for you...

backlight, i mean the background color of the selector area, in your pics, mine was white, seths was OEM amber...see it now?

also, do you want to change the signals (4 LEDs)?
