I just bought a 2016 tacoma TRD sport from an insurance auction and I am looking for options when it comes to my curtain airbags. Both the driver side and passenger side curtain airbags need to be replaced and there are a few on ebay and car-part.com but they are so expensive ($800 each). Does anyone have any alternatives for buying airbags or finding them cheaper? or is there somewhere that can rebuild them?

    Thanks in advance

I rebuild Toyota trucks too. Ebay is pretty much the go to place for air bags.

Unfortunately, they are costly. I have been lucky a few times and found that you can make an offer to the seller if they have allowed that on their sale.

You are going to have to have the SRS ECU reset as well. You have to remove it from the vehicle and send it in. Fortunately that part isn't too expensive. I use Myairbags.com. it Cost me $50 last time and they get your ECU sent back to you fast.

I don't know what its like to remove the SRS ECU on a later model, but doing my 2nd gen Tundra was a bitch getting that thing out from under the dash.

Keep us posted on the build process.

Yeah, its the worst. I actually am sending the seatbelts and SRS ECU to be flashed, like you were saying, tomorrow. I will have to keep a close eye on ebay. It sucks that salvage yards are trying to make money off of them so it makes them both hard to find and when you do they arent cheap

    I will! Thanks
