    Hello everyone,

I've been searching a month now(southeast coast/Gulf region) for a particular Tacoma (TRD OR, Red, 6MT w/ Premium Package), and no luck yet. I am wondering how people are even getting their hands on the few 6MT Tacoma's that are coming in. Whenever I see one pop up online and inquire about it, it's already reserved. Yes, I am looking nationwide.

My question is: I'm starting to consider putting a deposit down, but am a bit sketch about it because of what I have read on here. Dealer is telling me that if they don't get the truck I specify within 3 months, then I get my $500 deposit back. Thoughts on this?

I live in Columbus, GA by the way.

I put a deposit on the "next allocated truck that met my specs" with my local dealer and didn't have a single issue. If you are seeing the truck on a dealer site, it is most likely already sold. You need to get in line for an allocation. Especially for a manual. Your dealer knows if they have any allocations for one. Otherwise, search this forum...there is a spreadsheet somewhere that shows all dealers allocations and options (including port installed...you will get screwed with shit you probably don't want being in GA) and then contact that dealer to see if that allocation is already reserved. Just my opinion. I can recommend an amazing dealer but they are in Kansas......

Solid Advice! I'll start searching for that allocation sheet, thanks!

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
You can certainly place an "Order" with a deposit. Get the terms in writing clearly stating that 1) the truck you want WILL be held for you when it is allocated to the dealer AND 2) your deposit WILL be refundable if said truck does not get into the pipeline within X number of days or weeks. I had no issues with my dealer placing an order in June but not getting the truck until December. But then, I was patient and in no rush to get my '21 (actually ordered a '20) as my '06 was still in great shape.

Now is not the time to be super picky, especially since you want the MT. I just got my ‘21 TRD OR DCSB from Cobb County Toyota in Kennesaw after waiting about a month. I got extremely lucky in that someone who had a deposit down/allocation in front of me backed out last minute otherwise it would have been two months. The GM at Cobb County pretty much said there’s no way of knowing what the wait for a MT would be. Truck has to get built, then allocated to Southeast Toyota Distributors, then your dealer can request said allocation. The last part is tricky because multiple dealers can and will be asking for the same truck.

As another user said, anything you find on a dealerships website is most likely already sold. I was using the nationwide Toyota inventory search but I’m not sure it really helped. Should be able to find a thread here about it.

GM at Cobb County is named Joel if you wanna call down there.

    Good luck!

I put a deposit for mine in April and got the truck in July. I wasn’t in a HUGE rush so I waited very impatiently lol. I was able to order it with my specifications minus the color. I really didn’t care about the color so I had given tope 3 color preferences. Just do it and order it. I shopped around all dealerships in the metro area and only one was able to order to my specifications, minus the color like I said. Shop around and see which dealerships and salesmen work with you.

Don’t confuse ordering and reserving an allocation. Toyota doesn’t order vehicles (for the most part). It’s part of their LEAN process. Ordering doesn’t yield as much money as mass production and distributing said vehicles to waiting dealerships.

Can't wait for mind to come in! The Grey Nightshade looks very sexy as well. My girlfriend saw a grey one with the blacked out badges and wanted me to get that color, but hey it's my truck and I drive a black Pilot right now so sticking with black!

My sheet has all the configurations. There is another with sheet all dealers that was automatically generated and I have no clue where it is.

I have a deposit of 1k at one dealer and $500 at another. Both sealing at MSRP, one already was and the second came around after a week of “insistence” lol. I left the first dealer with a feeling of distrust that they would actually land me a truck, so I spoke to a second a week later. To their credit, the first dealer just called and said “my” truck will be built around 11/29. Second dealer, a smaller operation said he still hasn’t seen his allocation. I just asked for a silver SB DC OR with premium package. I don’t care if it comes with or without anything else
One thing was clear, there aren’t any coming in unclaimed unless a buyer backs out. If both dealers produce trucks i might be out a deposit, but i’ll let y’all know where the unclaimed one is arriving.
I won’t even get into how much crap my wifey is giving me for “ Buying two trucks” haha

After living in South Georgia and now living up in the Atlanta area, you might have better luck looking and holding your vehicle up in the Atlanta area. Marietta Toyota, Cobb county Toyota, Beaver Toyota, and there was another Toyota in the Newnan area that seemed to be decent are some of the ones I would consider talking to. I bought mine from Marietta Toyota, but any of the bigger Toyotas may have better luck at being able to acquire the vehicle you want when it is ordered. Good luck to you!

Just put a deposit for a truck coming in with everything I want at this dealership!

only add on I don’t care for is the Toyoguard and “phone cable and charge package”, which add $900, but I’m still happy everything else is exactly how I want.

The two absolute worst regions to buy in. You're almost guaranteed to get port added stuff you don't really want.

    Keep it up.

I drive past Mike Calvert Toyota daily in Houston, last night they had several new Tacoma’s on the lot. That the first time I’ve seen more than one in months.

Year old thread, but I just put down deposit at Cobb County Toyota in Kennesaw, Ga. To get inline to reserve TRD OR. They say it could be February before I get it. Just about all TRD ORs here in South East are all pre-sold. I have been looking in 250 miles out, but just started looking 500 miles out. There seems to be many more, but you really can’t tell online if they are pre sold or not. You have to contact dealer directly to find out.

I put a deposit down on a TRD Sport 6MT in February 2022; I got an allocation for my 2nd choice color in August and picked my Tacoma up mid-October. :)

I found it depends on the dealer when ordering these trucks how much they might require you to put down. I gave my credit card to this regional dealer over the phone once coming to a decision what i wanted to order claiming it should be no issue for them. They took the card, but never entered it assuming i was very serious. Truck appeared some 8-9 weeks later. I picked it up while giving them a personal check for the full amount as per our agreement.

Since you are wanting an OR you may have better luck in the SET region than I did looking for a Pro. I ended up using the spreadsheet from _kmg_ and found a Pro with no options except the junk Toyoguard sitting on a lot in NC....Bought it for MSRP. All the dealers in the North Georgia area either add a market adjustment and/or around $2500 in required port options. I canceled a deposit I had with the Toyota dealership in Athens because of this. I did find a dealer in Jacksonville FL that will sale at MSRP with no required port options. I can post the dealer and the salesman I was dealing if you like....? (I would have to look it up in my emails) The dealer in Dalton GA said they sell at MSRP you might look them up, I didn't get far with them because they already had a long list for Pro's.
