Isn't depreciated value due to accident typically paid out when your NOT at fault? Never heard of at fault getting depreciation value from insurance. Aren't they only obligated to fix your vehicle to standard?

I'm following this thread though to see peoples experience/opinions.

GA is different than other states. You can get the value even if you’re at fault.

Correct in Texas it’s with not at fault crashes. Other states may vary. But usually it’s only not at fault incidents.

Yeah. If you get 3 or 4 quotes and they’re all at 35k I think you have a little better foot to stand on.

    A few.
Yep those Carfax reports will get u every time for any insurance claims that were made for damage. I dont know if you can get a dimished value claim when ur the one at fault for the accident like u can when the other person is at fault.

GA is one of the few states that the government has actually addressed DV or loss of value by statute.

There is a formula that is done by the insurance company to determine loss of value. It is based off NADA, a damage multiplier, and a mileage multiplier usually. So higher the ACV, higher damage and lower miles means more money. It all starts with ACV.

Good to know. I too was always under the impression that no matter where you lived, if it was your fault there was no DV claim to be made.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
I would try selling it to an individual (with full disclosure of the wreck, of course) rather than getting a dealer quote.

You said the accident was in May, so assuming it was repaired and returned weeks ago...when you picked the repaired truck up from the body shop did you sign a release?

That could be an issue, find out before you push insurance too hard, they might tell you to pound sand. $1000 is better than zero if you have no legal recourse.

Was that trade in or retail value on the NADA? The dealer will only offer what they see fit as a trade, not retail book. When you sell it yourself that number would be closer to book value.
