Lost my 2014 SR5 in September and haven't been the same since, insurance gave me barely enough to pay the loan off and afford a beater for my family. Took a gamble leaving law enforcement to move to arizona where we were promised a house. Spent credit for the big move, and came down house was a a bust now we used what we had for an apartment and shot credit. That truck was the final straw, I worked hard became a cop just to get this truck lol and now it's all gone....like I've never felt so down in my life. Would literally give anything to have it back.

I don’t know the details of the things that occurred, but one of the best pieces of advice I’ve even been given was when things are tough, keep moving forward. Allow yourself to be pissed/angry/etc, but don’t sulk and let it linger. Keep moving forward.

I lost my 2nd gen back in June due to an uninsured driver and it felt like the end of the world, especially since it was due to someone else’s carelessness, so I know how you feel on that piece.

I don’t want to say things will get better, because nobody really knows (heck they could get worse) but regardless, keep moving forward…..

Brother I'm so sorry to hear that. If you made it through the Academy, you will make it through this!

Keep your nose to the grindstone but I hear you, it sucks.

Hey man, life can turn on a dime - usually for the bad it seems - it can turn for the good too though.

Even though you lost the truck it protected you and are still around to fight your way back up, tough and crappy as the situation might be.

It is time to strip life down to the essentials, focus on what is most important, family and yourself.

Today, this month, this year are all short moments in the scale of ones life - this will pass and be behind you at some point.

    :pray::pray::pray:

Keep you head up and be strong for your family. Sit down and talk with them or a friend or call a buddy from home. Look to move forward and put the pieces to the puzzle back together.

Keep perspective. You have had a series of bad things happen that can be defeating. You DO have health and family. Focus on those positives and move forward. All of this is replaceable. This is your character building moment. Anyone who lives long enough goes through similar things…this not to diminish how hard it is.
Find community in a good church. Get guidance. Pray. Go. Do.

Sorry to hear brother. Stay focused on the important things in your life. "Tough times never last, but tough people do." Keep pushing forward brother. Don't hesitate to PM me if you ever just need to vent.

I had someone rear end me on the freeway and totaled by dream truck. I had gone so many places in that truck and so many great memories. I collected patches that i stuck to the headliner in my truck of all the places. Always reminded me that there where more good times to come when I’d have to drive to my job that I absolutely hated.

when the truck was towed someone stole all my patches and personal belongings in my truck. I wasn’t able to find a comparable truck afterwords either. There where several other things in my life at the time that just made it all too overwhelming.

it was really tough for a long while but just keep going forward one step at a time no matter how small the steps.

Sorry to hear. I imagine you moved out there thinking life would get better and hit all these unexpected speed bumps on the way. I think sometimes we are hit with these "failures" because we needed a recalibration for some reason. When I look back at the hardest moments in my life, I can see how they were needed, how I grew from them, and the path I could've gone down without them. It's hard to see in the moment, but you can turn everything to your benefit with the right perspective. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but if you can inch towards that idea, you can change your life.

But seriously, screw cars anyway. It's not who you are. Good luck and DM me any time if you want.

Don't know why you left law enforcement, but, there is a critical shortage of LEO's in this country. If you left your last department on good terms, and your personal circumstances permit, you can likely be employed very quickly if you return to law enforcement. Sorry about the loss of your truck.

Sorry to hear it brother. Been there so many times.. sounds like the big man is guiding you in a better direction. As suck ass as this is, it’s just STUFF. Sometimes he has to take it all away to get your attention.. seems he has bigger plans for you or your off the path he has for you.
Consider that you have your health, you’re not homeless, and there are a boatload of programs out there to assist you.
The real question is will you listen and how fast can you dust yourself off and get back up?

Can you do a lateral transfer or go back? If not I know a lot of places in AZ that are hiring with a prevailing wage, what industry are you in now?

Been there. Hopefully something better is right around the bend. Money comes and goes. You're healthy, your family loves you, and you have a roof over your head. Find a way to clear your head every day. Walking, running, meditation, working out, intense games of monopoly...whatever. This will pass.

Damn, that sucks. As bad as low points in life are, they provide the contrast needed to truly appreciate the good things. Focus on what you have, not what you lost. I know, easy to say and to quote a song "no wise words gonna stop the bleeding" but with time you'll get through this.

As for credit repair, it can happen really quick if you can be disciplined. You can rebuild credit super fast. Times may be tight, but focus on the joy of having a family. As long as you have that, you can keep going.

    One step at a time.

Based on what you wrote you have transportation, a place to live and your health.

Seems up first is a solid job. Get that nailed down, take inventory, make a plan, start working the plan.

    You can do it.

Yes, this. Almost every department around here is constantly posting on FB about needing people. Heck, Dallas PD recently went to Puerto Rico for a recruiting trip.
