They’re great tents. There are a good amount of factory upgrades included with the price. I’m impressed with the newer tents.

Alright everyone, ill be doing 30+ days in my desert armor grunt in Florida. I have had it mounted to the truck for roughly 8 months and the only issue i have so far is the low quality connections for the lighting, connectors wont stay together......i have to plug them in and then tape them. How is everyone else liking their set ups?

Need some help if anyone can steer me in the right direction. Looking at the description of both the soldier and the warrior tents. They are the same and come with the same features. Unless I’m overlooking something. Just curious as to why there is price difference. What are the features that come with the warrior but not the soldier.

Also wondering if bedding can be stored inside either of the tents when they are closed up?

    Thanks in advance!

Anyone else notice cracking on their warrior shell? I’m not sure if it’s UV damage or not but I don’t see any scratches that would indicate it’s been hit. I’ve reached out to DA but in the mean time I’ve been costing it with UV protectant and added silicone to the cracks

Not yet on mine and it sits in the sun all day at work. Do you have one of the new-gen shells or the 1st gen?

Pic of my new-gen for reference. It's more rounded off than the old-style squared-off look (the latter of which I prefer, aesthetically...).

Yes please! That would greatly be appreciated, thank you. I actually contacted them a few months ago. They said they’d check with the supplier but I haven’t heard back

Hello, I'm Tom Wilson in Tucson AZ. I bought a Desert Armor Tank last week from the Glendale HQ and they installed it on top of my 2017 Tacoma for free. I actually had paid for a Warrior and set up an installation appointment but changed my mind at the last minute (Aluminum is better in the heat than ABS plastic). They very kindly allowed this last minute upgrade and threw in the spare latches I had requested. The whole experience went very well, and I had a good first impression.

I'd like to offer some initial feedback. A little background: I've been using roof tents since 2009 in Africa and decided to go with a hardshell because the soft shell cover zippers invariably fail due to dust. I waited this long to get one because I wanted my wife to approve first.

--The design is overall very good. For example, the angled ladder steps and the velcro secondary latches for the cover.
--All of the components work fine and look well-made, with no defects. The LED lights are a nice feature.
--The standard features (eg, shoe bags) that competitors offer as extra purchases are a great value for the money.
--The side "reins" (straps) designed to keep the sides from bulging as you close the tent don't work very well, get in the way, and are one more thing you have to tuck inside when closing the tent. I find it easy to just manually push the sides without them. I've removed the straps, which is easy to do.
--The top strap works great for closing the shell.
--The website advertises a 3" mattress but mine is only 1.5". This is a big difference. It's my understanding that Desert Armor isn't alone in this.
--The tent is mounted on top of my Snugtop Rebel shell using Yakima round crossbars. The mounting brackets are secured using M8 1.25 nylon lock nuts. I purchased an extra eight and have them threaded on as well for insurance. In Africa one of our tents actually came off when the locknuts loosened and were lost on a rough road, so it's a cheap precaution.
--It certainly is an improvement over the Howling Moon softshell roof tents that I am used to using.

    Cheers, Tom

Thanks for the thorough review man! Sounds like a pretty solid tent. As soon as these actually go on a decent sale I'm picking one up.

Any idea when they'll have Warrior annexes again?
