What's the scoop on this and the Torro Offroad tent you posted? I've been waiting for the iKamper mini. These look very similar (and almost identical to each other) But they seem to have popped up out of nowhere. Has anyone actually bought one? The price is compelling if they're well made!

These guys are newish to the game. They have delivered to customers and I talk to them pretty regularly.

Toro. Same deal. I’ll actually be seeing their product and putting hands on next weekend at Moore Overland Expo. They’re good people too. They have delivered to people too and I have other guys on Tacoma3G who have bought their tents.

I think they’re probably from the same factory or whatever. There are only a few factories in China that make them.

Have this and the Torro variant on my radar...still kinda waiting for real world reviews. Do you have any insight on the buckles/closing mechanism on these? Are these comparable/copies of the iKamper Skycamp Mini in terms of quality?

Okay. So let me update you. With what I know and what’ve I’ve done some research on.

I’ve seen the toro tent in person. It’s just like the ikamper. It has some neat features, but the locking mechanisms are just riveted into the plastic cover. The stress of unlocking and locking cause the rivets to pull, make sense? Therefore, they will, over a period of time, wear out and need to be replaced.

the desert armor tent has a different locking mechanism that actually locks above the rivets pressing the metal against the body of the tent vs pulling the rivets.

also. The desert armor has rain guards for their windows when open vs the toro tent that does not. It has open sides.

just some small things I noticed. Both have pros and cons. I like both, but if I had to choose, I’d run with the desert armor.

Thanks for the details! I like you because you're helpful AF, but I do not like you because you make me spend money too easily :) Thanks again! Valid point about the stress over time with the latches, that was the exact insight I was looking for. Also good catch with the windows; are you saying with the Torro there is no rain coverage for those windows, or that there is no coverage when when window is open. I'm in Seattle by the way and do a bit of wet camping. Just the package of awning and annex with the Torro are alluring as hell.

Yeah... but let me be honest. It’s not as easy to set all that up, especially when it’s raining. Or muddy. Just the tent alone with another awning would be the best route. Just my 2 cents.

Ha, yeah I heard it's a pain in the ass to set up. I guess for me that setup time is a good investment when I hear less complaining from the Mrs. It's two parts here, I get to have new toys, and as long as they benefit her in some way too, I get the approval lol. That's how it works right guys? .......Guys?

Thanks again for the info....what do you think about the prices..think they'll stay or go up/down in the near future due to this pandemic business?

They just went on sale. 2299 for the warrior tent. I’d check the website. Plus the promo code uploadadv saves another $100

I was between the torro and the desert armor as well. The lack of metal latches on the torro was a deal breaker for me...ended up going with the desert armor

Yeah they got that sale going on right now that is pretty tempting. If I could get it under 2k I might be able to slide that one through the finance department as an early wedding gift haha.
