Wondering if anyone has done this install on a 3rd gen under the passenger seat?

Not experienced with electrical work and would have to deal with this living in an apartment.

Does anyone know if a auto electrician or shop who could handle this is the Los Angeles area or possibly Phoenix?

The only install video I can find is with a different compressor and on the driver side. 4wd parts quoted me at a rate higher than the cost of the mount and air compressor price combined.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks,

Getting ready to do this myself. No videos that I have seen. Little information about someone actually performing the install. Chloe mounts a single under the drivers. My Tacoma has a drivers power seat so I figured it was better to go twin under passenger esp since I mostly air up on sides of roads and for safety reasons better to leave the passenger door open while airing up.

My post doesn't really address your question at hand, but felt another perspective might be helpful. I'd suggest mounting under the hood for 3 reasons:

    1. Easier to install and wire up.
    2. Compressor can get pretty damn hot
    3. Also pretty noisy

I typically have a wife and kids sitting in the truck while I'm airing up. No way they would want to hear that thing humming inside the cab.
Just my $.02, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I thought about the heat. I have custom mounted a twin under a passenger seat in a Defender(Resto company carpeted inside the boxes for those who know what I am talking about), I made stand offs to keep the carpet from getting too warm. As the DDI mount places the metal of the bracket somewhat under the compressor I feel this may not be warranted however if I notice it as a issue I will make small stand offs.

Yeah def advantages to both sides. I like it to be in the cab personally.
I already bought the compressor and mount so i am set on getting this done.

There’s a major OBA discussion in the Technical Chat subforum - I recommend checking that out

This is just my preference - under hood and I route it to the front bumper. That way I don’t have to keep my hood/door open in dusty conditions/salt (I fish quite a bit).

Check the subforum out and poke around getting ideas and learning. The ARB harness is pretty straightforward. The only thing I grumbled about was the inline fuse was waaaay too far (should be within the first 12 inches from the terminal) easy fix

Ummm. I have a single arb under the passenger seat. Doesn’t get hot, isn’t loud. Made a custom length harness, loom and all. Not a bad install. Also made a wifey hose, works great.

I've installed my arb single under the drivers seat with a homemade bracket. Decided to keep mine in the cab since the truck will be running w/ A/C while I air-up and the noise doesn't bother me too much. Plus it'll keep the compressor and filter cleaner than under the hood. I've run the air lines through the floor with a rubber gasket then splits to both sides of the truck so I can connect the air hose on both sides.. capping them with brass fitting caps to prevent debris from clogging the qd air chucks.

I have thought about doing this but need to verify there is a floor grommet on the passenger side. Love the quick access outside. If it is not feasible I will probably just leave the tap inside.

I totally get that, I spend alot of time in Utah and the fine sand gets into everything. Not to mention the wind.

There are two floor grommets on the passenger side, one for the auto lock tailgate harness and one a little more forward. I used the one more forward for the larger gauge wire to run the compressor.

Yup, like @Benny blanco mentioned, I used the one fo the auto-tailgate lock harness. Having the quick access outside the cab is quite handy to helping others fill air as well.

I’ll second this one. If you are airing up for 10-20 minutes I can almost guarantee it’s going to get annoying inside the cab. Mine is under the hood and it’s pretty loud. I would not want to sit in the truck and listen to it.

    Custom mount or purchased?
I think this is the first time I've seen it next to the washer reservoir.

I purchased it. SLEE’s 2nd Gen mount works for the 3rd Gen luckily

The guy that came up with the idea named it wifey , maybe his last name was wifey. I can’t remember. But it’s all four tires at the same time. 678FD955-7E12-4C0E-B469-145DCD71BF49.jpg Kinda like this.

This is a little late to this post but for anyone who ends up here, the run can be done via the center console towards driver side. Twin ARB fits perfectly with enough space for the seat and the compressor not to touch. upload_2024-10-31_21-57-39.jpg
