I'm considering the Desert Does It Rear Mount Panel for my 22 Toyota Pro. I am concerned that mounting it in front of the driver's seat may adversely affect the seat travel as well as the position of my feet when I attach a fire extinguisher. As such I am considering mounting it behind the driver's seat.

Not looking to reinvent the wheel here and so I am asking for anyone who has experience in this area, good, bad, or otherwise, to share their thoughts and experiences. I realize that a fire extinguisher behind the driver's seat will take up some space, but I normally don't have passengers back there.

As an aside, I recently installed their "Seat Jackers" on both front seats. I'm 6'2, 205 lbs. They make all the difference in the world and improve ride comfort (for me) exponentially.

    Thanks in advance.

    Joe,

Good afternoon, 21 DC OR here so this may not apply.

I’ve got a spot beside my rear seat by the frame where a small fire extinguisher fits perfectly with the seat leaned forward, so I put it there and use my DDI multi- mount panel on the front with other stuff. Yes, it does limit front seat travel, but I’m the only one driving it.

And +1 on the seat jackers.

You can use an Element E100 Fire Extinguisher instead of typical chemical one. On my 2019 OR it does not limit my seat movement on either the front or back, left or right side. With the rear mount the extinguisher will sit near the back of the seat and will protrude out a couple of inches on the front seats.

I have an extinguisher mounted to one of the dessert does it molle panels on the front passenger side, forward facing. My passengers don’t seem to complain about it.

Consider mounting your fire extinguisher in your truck bed if you have an ABC Dry Chem extinguisher. An accidental discharge will make for an ENORMOUS mess in your cab
