Referencing for later. Received my Ruff Stuff Toyota Mini Axle truss yesterday. Going to be A LOT more modification than I had originally anticipated but I should be able to make it work.

Curious to see the Dirt Designs truss kit as well. I've heard they exist but never seen one installed.

Im not sure. You’d have to dig around. 1st or 2nd Gen Tundra? What axle did they use?

Going with much longer eye end shocks. Did you have to change the lower mounts too? Will you be strapping it?

I’ve had a 2.5x12” shock on the truck for a couple years now. Yes, I changed the lower mounts. No, I will not be strapping it.

The ruffstuff truss is awesome, I did mine last summer. It took a bunch of modifying around the pumpkin to fit nicely

So I'm figuring out. I've started fitment but I lost interest pretty quick with other items on the list. Going to work on it again this week.

How did you weld the truss? Did you "preload" the axle or install the 3rd prior to welding to prevent warpage?

Haha I actually welded it all on the truck without taking the axle off. I welded 1-2" segments at a time going across to reduce the risk of any warping, move to the other side, then back and forth. Took a couple of hours but the axle is straight and true without any warping. If your able to take the axle off that would be way better and the "proper" way...but my method worked too for a no-warped truss'ed axle

Made some progress this weekend and got the rear axle welded up. Took the rear brakes apart and got the old axle out. Next is stripping the leafs and installing the trussed axle for cycling.

Thanks! It was a lot more work than I originally anticipated but came out nice. Looks like I had to remove a lot more material than you did to get it to fit. Not sure why.

Over the Toyota parts not cutting it. Throwing some Jeep parts on... probably going to end up on jack stands again. :bananadead:

Got any close up photos of the lower ball joint? I'm trying to figure out which emf uniball they use and the mods they do to the spindle adapter to make it work. Looks like they weld spacers to the adapter but not sure if they drill out the spindle adapter for a larger main mounting fastener.
