Hey all, I need a little help understanding and simplifying the 2024- Tacoma US-market model codes so I can display them in an easy-to-comprehend chart. I've been able to do this with all past Toyotas (see the Tundra example below) but when it comes to the new Tacoma, it's a shxt show. Logic seems to have been thrown out.

I started my research in this topic posted by @Jeff Lange where he seems to have been the first person to post the model codes online.

    TZNA40: 2WD Non-Hybrid with Coil Springs
    TZNA41: 2WD Non-Hybrid with Leaf Springs (8AT)
TZNA45: 4WD Non-Hybrid with Coil Springs (8AT and 6MT TRD) or Leaf Springs (6MT excl. TRD)
    TZNA46: 4WD Non-Hybrid with Leaf Springs
    TZNH47: 4WD Hybrid

I reached out to a friend of mine who works in a Toyota parts dept and he sent me two PDFs that expanded farther on the details. The 1st PDF (3 pgs) breaks down the VIN and model code. The 2nd PDF (15 pgs) expands on the details for each model.

After poring through the documentation I was able to determine that Coil Spring vs Leaf Spring situation was not that complicated. All Xtracabs get leaf springs. Double Cabs in SR trim (only available with 5' bed) also get leaf springs. All other Double Cabs get coil springs. Seems easy enough.

Here is the page with my updated chart, which I have screen-capped in its current unfinished condition: http://importarchive.com/toyota/tacoma/2024-/specs

Dayum! Gross Vehicle Weighs >5600lb for a single cab. >6000lb for a double. No wonder gas mileage is low. Curb weigh must be high.

Yeah, that's my thought, curb weight must be high.
