Okay, sooooooooo...I'm sensing that most people think this is a problem? ;)

I talked to my neighbor this evening about it. He works at the Toyota plant here in Evansville, where they make Tundras and Siennas. Anyway, he was aware of the problem too and knew about the Toyota guarantee. He said to contact the dealer right away and work through it with them.

That's too bad. I really like this truck, and it'll probably be hard to find another one similar to it in the price range...at least what I want to pay for a knock-around truck.

I'm sure you are dissappointed. Finding a used Tacoma for the right price is not an easy task. I hope this all works out for you and you don't get the shaft in the end.

I've got my appointment with the Toyota dealer on Monday morning 6/8, so I'll let everyone know how that turns out.

Yes, I'd love to get into another used Taco. But I'd really like one similar to this one, e.g. the V6, manual tranny, and 4wd. High mileage 1st gen is okay as long as it's been taken good care of.

Yeah sorry for the delay. I think I posted another thread but it did indeed fail. Just got the offer from Toyota this week for $12345. Faxing back the form today and should have my check next week.

So I definitely made out like a bandit.

Keep in mind that the buy back price is negotiable. They tried to low ball me, then I provided my Kelly BB calculation and they upped their number!

    Good Luck!

I think based on KBB it was right around 150% so that seems pretty reasonable. If I'm off base, please let me know.

Wow holes in the frame and that much overall rust is bad.
In the next year or so will a newer used tacoma be within your budget?

That don't have frames for those years. Hence the buyback.
