I'm at the point that I need to buy a full size truck. Will be selling my '17 TRD off road, 6 spd to help facilitate purchase. Not looking to take someone's head off, but not looking to give it away either.

I looked at NADA, KBB to get a base price ($15-16k). I know I won't recoup the cost of the aftermarket modifications, but don't want to lose all the money spent. It's got a Leer camper shell w/ Sherpa rack, modified Truckvault drawer, ARB skidplates, Backwoods winch bumper w/ winch. Dobinsons suspension up front, ICON out back. TRD 4runner wheels & 285s.

Am I delusional in thinking I can recoup half of the money for the add-ons? If it would pull the wife's shaved ice/catering trailer better I wouldn't be selling. colorado-1.jpg

2017 are a golden year, pre tss I believe. But you aren’t gonna get squat for the add ons, fer sure. Sell the camper shell/cap, winch, truck vault, Sherpa rack, and anything else you can take off. And you should be able to get a decent chunk. The truck itself might even go for more without some of those things on there. Where you located?

I'd be alright with that.......was honestly thinking $20-21k.

I'm the original owner, it does have 195k miles, but also been maintained religiously.

I don't think it's unreasonable to try to recoup some of the mod costs... it just might take some more time to find the right buyer looking for that particular setup. If you're trying to sell quickly, it might be worth removing the mods and selling them individually, as others have suggested.

Well I was gonna suggest; get ahold of oem rims, and sell those semas separate. I have a set but, they are 1000+ miles west.
Is it true, Arkansas is just like Kansas but with more AR? You’re not near Flippin are you? I had a friend from Flippin.

Your best bet would be to find some young guy who wants a modded truck, because no dealer is going to pay you for your modifications and many people like me don’t like to buy modified vehicles.

Or just try to remove as many of the accessories as possible and sell them yourself.

I'm even on the SEMA rims. Facebook marketplace steal on those ($400 for wheels & tires). Sold my originals for $400, but neglected to keep the tpms sensors. My mistake......

You could probably get 2000-2500 for the Leer selling it separately.

Maybe see what CarMax or Carvana with give you for your truck.

Then do a Pro / Con list of selling / trading as it is or removing all your Mods to sell separately.

No money, all went to truck...
nice truck! 195k is a lot of miles though. That will work against you. When I sold my 6sp 2012 everyone told me the manual will make it an easier sell. I found the opposite. Had lots of interest and once they saw it was a manual, they were out. very few under 30 year olds can drive manual...

    Is the timing cover leaking?
Or has it been resealed yet?
That would be the question I’d want to know as a potential buyer.

    That’s a $2,000 job (or more)

If it is, give the new buyer a break.
    That’s a big unexpected expense.

Other wise, $19k-$20k is reasonable to ask. The 195k is what hurts it.

OP, removing the topper alone will allow you recoup some funds in one easy transaction. I don't like to wheel-n-deal used stuff either, but the topper will sell. On and off, I spent several years looking for one in the same color and wasn't priced for nearly new, AND I had to drive 8 hours to get it and talk the guy in to removing it from his listed truck. In the end, he was glad I did too.

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
I’d sell all the mods separately, there’s lots of local Tacoma owners that would suck that stuff up quickly. Check the regional forums here for interests in buying your stuff before CLing it. You wil even be able to arrange for a front original bumper swap with someone local who wants to buy yours.

I've already got an offer to buy it from a co-worker who's son wants it. Son works here too, so it'd be easy peasy.......will more than likely do that and then decide whether or not to part out the rest of the goodies.

A decent offer on the topper is good as they can be hard to sell. As far as the truck goes, I'd pull all the mods off I could and sell them separately and blow the truck out for 20K.
