I have a detroit locker and want to finally put it in my taco. I'm mechanically inclined and would like to do it myself but I can't find a 'How-to' or instructions anywhere on here or Google :(

Does anyone have any links that can walk me through installing it? It'd be greatly appreciated !

I recommend that you don't try this yourself, special tools and techniques are needed to do it right. Do it just a little bit wrong, and the diff could grenade on you 100 miles from nowhere.

You can remove the diff from the truck yourself, that is pretty straightforward. Then take it (and the locker) to a reputable gear shop. I think that there might be an install kit that is necessary, as well. That is what I did. The $200 or so for labor is worth it just for the peace of mind.

Not really, just have to make sure you're backlash is in spec prior to installing it back in the truck. As long as the bearings are in good shape shouldn't need any install kit

No problem, the only difference the 8.4" diff has from the v6 is that it uses shims instead of the adjuster wheels to set backlash, but other than that the install is the same.
